International Rugby League has unveiled the draws for the 2026 Rugby League World Cup — tipped to be the biggest global showcase in the sport’s history.
Across 31 days, 26 teams from 14 nations will battle through 53 matches in nine cities across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The action kicks off 15 October at Allianz Stadium, with Australia vs New Zealand, followed by heavyweight clashes including England v Tonga in Perth on the 17th of October and a massive Pacific showdown — Tonga v Samoa on 1 November.

Kristian Woolf has confirmed that Sydney Roosters centre Robert Toia and New Zealand Warriors forward Leka Halasima have both committed to representing Tonga in 2025, bolstering the squad ahead of this year’s Pacific Championships. The move highlights Tonga’s ongoing ability as a Tier 2 nation to attract talent from Tier 1 countries, with both players eligible for Australia or New Zealand but opting to wear the red jersey. Toia, who made his State of Origin debut for Queensland this year, had already ruled out representing New Zealand and was considered a contender for the Kangaroos’ Ashes tour, while Halasima’s breakout NRL season had put him in contention for Kiwi selection. Their decisions come as New Zealand and Samoa vie for high-profile names such as Payne Haas, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Jeremiah Nanai, underscoring the increasingly competitive player market in the Pacific.
