Belek Golf Academy by Cahit Kaya Master program. How to become your own golf coach?
Golf it is a very mental game that requires patience, concentration, clarity of thought and discipline.
In this part of book I will explain the details what I’ve found works best after many years building and refining different training programs for my juniors team and golf beginners, and skilled golfers I have understand very clear how is necessary to have training program.

Why to have training program is important?
1. perfection
Training can transform imperfection to perfection. Nobody is perfect at any job, and thus comes the role of training to make you perfect. Regular training and practice is the key to mastering any task. Be it in sports or in professional front, training should not be avoided and should be welcomed with open arms. Training is designed in such a way that the students get the maximum out of it and are several steps closer to perfection than what they were before.
2. Excellence: Excellence in any field can be achieved via proper training. A well-planned training program can prepare you to deliver the best. Excellence cannot be aimed at without learning and subsequent practicing. To excel in any task, prior training is a must.
3. Success: You can only become a successful professional if you are a trained professional.
From the juniors to the seniors, every individual should receive regular training. This helps them improve their productivity.
Mostly golfers try to concentrate on their mistakes and shortcomings of their golf swing and after the game they come back to driving range and spend there time working on and triying to fix only golf swing mistakes. Basically it comes to the fact that golfer tries to hit alot of balls in the hope of getting the result without having any plan of training and forget to work on different parts of game.
Only to have training program you can practice effectively and it helps you to achieve results and better score.
The main thing of my training program is to practice mental (focus) and mechanics of the golf swing together.
Practicing my program will allow to make the golf swing changes and let to feel natural and more adaptable ready for the golf course.
It's very important to create an annual golf training program to reach your golfing goals.
I believe that my training program can help you to improve golf confidence, focus, and composure on the course and boost your on-course performance.
Mixing up the shots and clubs you hit in practice sessions will lead to more errors in practice, but a better transfer of skill onto the golf course.
When you will be repeat this program then your brain and you body will be learn. The key is many-time repetition the same program then when you will go to play on the golf course your brain and body will be work automatically.
This program will take alot of time. It will be include all areas to practice, putting, chipping, pitching, bunker, driving range for middle and long distance shots.
Starting program make your targets smaller in practice, and challenge yourself by trying to hit more accurate shots in a row without errors. This small change in expectations will really help your body refine how you hit full golf shots, chips and putts. It will results in fewer misses with smaller errors from your intended target.
You should make your program always from the beginning till the end and doesn't matter you played bad or good game on the golf course. You should always keep going with your program. Then you will see the result and improve your score because you will be act the same way, automatically, on practicing areas and on the golf course.

As you practice mechanics of the golf swing, also you should practice mental.
Mental training it's the huge part of Golf which allows you to change your view of the game, live in the moment and enjoy the sport, and not let emotions or disappointment from bad shots affect your game.
Training mental will allow you to clear your mind, achieve the concentration, and live the "moment" of each shot.
I will explain about methods of self training wich will help you to practice mechanics and mental together.
The most important thing is where your focus is.
I mean, when you practice mechanics of the golf swing you can focus and pay attention on your body movements.
For example, I use gloves under right and left armpits for increased body, arm connection during the golf swing to improve body rotation.
For example, Tiger does this with the strength of his core. By developing a stronger core from a rotational standpoint, you will add many yards to your drives. A term for this is “staying-connected” throughout the golf swing.
Tiger always fights his lower body getting way ahead of his upper body during the downswing (getting “stuck”), so he tries to keep his arms and club in front of his chest for as long as he can. This promotes a better sequence for the downswing, which puts him at impact in a very powerful position.
There are many drills you can do to achieve this body rotation. Sticking a towel under both armpits while you swing a wedge is one way. If the towel drops, your arms have become disconnected from your body.

If you want to practice mental, you should focus target, trying to hit ball close to the target as you can.
More shots you are doing on the Golf course dealing with short game and to be successful you should focus on the only important thing: the hole.
If you practice middle and long distance shots on the driving range the target can be placards indicating the distance or flags.
Cahit Kaya Master program will allow you:
- To practice mental.
When you practice mental you should focus target and to hit the ball in the hole or close to the flag.
- To practice mechanics of the golf swing.
One of the way to practice mechanics is to put gloves under your left and right armpits for better rotation and hit balls using 9 ball flight laws.
- To get the feeling that you are on the golf course playing 18 holes, only focusing one shot, and it will help to act automatically to be more consistant and not nervouse alot on the golf course.

You practice like you play 18 holes on the golf course. You change clubs starting from short clubs and with each club you hit 9 balls focusing mechanics of the golf swing and 9 balls you hit focusing target, it means you work mental and mechanics of the swing together. You will be work this way using each practicing area (driving range, bunker, chipping green, putting green).
The program is very flexible and even if you are going to play on the golf course 9 or 18 holes you can follow this program with the following way: before to play on the golf course you can do only mental part of practice focusing target. It means you will be hit only 9 balls with each club and trying to aim and hit target. It will prepare your concentration before the game and on the golf course you will be feel more confident. When you will be finished your round on the golf course you can come back to practice and focus mechanics of the golf swing.
Everything in golf requires practice, also this Master program can be done in fairway bunker. It will help to make your swing more powerful and get more distance.
If you are able to practice your fairway bunker swing, you can expect better result when you will be hit from the grass.
Try different clubs from the practice fairway bunker, and give yourself a few different types of lies. These practice opportunities are highly valuable, as some repetition in practice from a fairway-style bunker will greatly boost your confidence when you go to play on the golf course.
When you have training program you can start to coach yourself.
Why is necessary to become your own golf coach?
In many sports we have coach who oversee all of our practice. But in golf you may be take lessons once a month, get some advice then go to practice by yourself. This can make improving tough.
For that reason you need to become your own golf coach. I dont mean you have to stop having golf lessons. But also you should be able to manage your own development and become the master of your own golf swing.
How to become your own golf coach?
First of all you should know the fundamentals, the basics which every coach teach. They are the same for everyone and all of us start with the same way.
What are the basics?
1. The ball flights (9 flights)
2. The ball fight laws (5 laws)
3. Swing principles (14 principles)
The main aim of the game of golf is to get the ball in the hole. So first of all you should understand your ball flight. Everything is about ball flight if you understand ball flight, ball flight laws and swing principles then you can change your swing.


According to the old ball flight laws you can hit golf ball with 3 different ways:
- İnside to outside
- Square to square
- Outside to inside
The clubface could be closed, square and open. A closed clubface curve the ball left, a square clubface produce a staight shot and open clubface curve the ball to the right.
The old ball flight laws told us that the ball would start in the direction of swing path and curve depending on the clubface.
The most common swing path for amatuer players is outside to inside swing path with an open clubface.
But time is going very fast and new technologies were worked out. Thank to new technology the new ball flight laws appered.
9 ball flight laws:
1. Pull - hook - draw- clubface is sqare and path is outside to inside
2. Pull - clubface is sqare and path is inside to outside
3. Pull slice – clubface is open and path is outside to inside
4. Push – clubface is square and path is inside to outside
5. Push slice – clubface is open and path is inside to outside
6. Push hook - clubface is closed and path is inside to outside
7. Straight – clubface is sqare and path is straight down the line
8. Slice – clubface is open and path is sqare
9. Hook – clubface is closed and path is sqare

Accodring to the new golf ball flight laws the direction is dictated by the clubface, not the swing path. The clubface is prevailing factor of what line your ball starts on. The swing path dictates the curvature, not the clubface.

Ball is always doing what club is doing. Its about cause and effect. Every single ball flight in golf can be explained by 5 reasons that happen at impact. They are called impact factors.
There are 5 impact factors:
1. Impact location – contact point on the club face: center (sweet spot), heal, toe, top, duf.
The degree to which the ball is struck in relation to the club's "sweet spot" affects both the distance and direction of the ball. The closer to the sweet spot the ball is struck, the further and straighter the ball will travel.




2. Club head speed (normal, fast, slow)
The speed of the clubhead at impact greatly affects the distance the golf ball will travel. A faster club head speed will cause the ball to travel further; a slower club head speed will lead to less distance.

3. Club face position (open, close, square)
The initial direction the ball flies after impact is greatly influenced by the path of the clubhead. The faster the clubhead speed at impact, the greater this influence will be.


4. Path of the clubhead (in to out, straight, out to in)
The direction the clubface is pointed at impact greatly affects the direction of the flight of the ball. The more the toe or the heel of the club is in front at impact, the more side spin will be imparted to the ball which will influence the curvature of the ball's flight.


5. Angle of approach – club head path at impact (shallow, steep)
The steepness of the club's path at impact affects both distance and curvature. A steeper angle of attack will cause the ball to go higher and less far because of the degree of backspin generated. A ball struck above its center of gravity will go lower than a ball struck below its center of gravity.

Think what kind of 9 shots normally you do. What is your ball flight? What is the ball flight you want to achieve? Knowing what you are trying to achieve is key. Once you have found out the difference between your bad shot and how you want to hit then to improve your golf will be simple.
For example, if you slice but you want to hit fade, only you need to work on your club face at impact, not swing path. But if your bad shot is a pull on the golf course , but you normally hit it straight, this is simply caused by your swing path. The swing analysing procedure is the biggest step in becoming your own golf coach.

Now magic is going to start. After you know 9 ball flights and 5 impact location then the coaching of yourself becomes like an art and a science. Now you can become a desighner of your golf swing.
How to built golfswing?
For this you should learn 14 principles of golf swing.
1. Grip
2. Aim

4. Swing plane
5. Width of Arc
6. Length of Arc
7. Position (top of swing)
8. Lever system
9. Timing
10. Release
11. Dynamic balance
12. Swing center
13. Connection
14. Impact



This information shows the principles that affect each impact.
These golf swing principles and the sheet above are so important for your progress.

Pre swing principles: grip, aim and set up very important and more then other things influence your golf swing. Thats why coaches pay a lot of attention to these aspects.
Grip: Placement, positioning, pressure and precision of applying hands to club.


Aim: Alignment of the club face and body in relation to target.
Setup: Posture, ball position, stance, weight distribution and muscular readiness.
If you set up properly as a foundation then the golf swing will be easy.

Swing principles:
Swing Plane: Tilt and direction of the inclined plane made by the shaft.
Width of Arc: Extension of the arms and hands away from the center of rotation during the swing.
Length of Arc: Distance club head travels in backswing and forward swing.
Position (Top of the swing): Relationship of the back of the “lead” arm and wrist to the face of the club and the swing plane at the top of the backswing.
Lever System: Combination of levers formed by the left arm and club during the backswing.
Timing: proper sequence of body and club movement to produce the most efficient result.
Release: Allowing the arms, hands, body, and club to return to the correct impact position unleashing power created in backswing.
Dynamic Balance: Appropriate transfer of weight while maintaining body control.
Swing Center: Point located near the top of the spin around which upper body rotation and swing of arms is in place.
Connection: Establishing and maintaining the various body parts in their appropriate relation to one another setup and during the swing.
Impact: The position of the body and the club at the moment the club head delivers its full energy to the ball.

Golf is not easy, but its important to understand the basics and such things like ball flight laws and principles that can simplify the process of improving your game.

There are very few secrets in terms of what you have to do to improve at golf. You have to practice. It really is that simple. You need 10 000 repetitions. Is it easy? Of course not. You can practice hard and not see much in the way of results for long periods of time. This will be frustrating, but you have to see it through until the results start to show themselves on the course. Golf is a hard game, and any improvements you make are going to be well-earned. This makes those great rounds all the more satisfying, as you will be able to look back with pride on the hard work that went into your building your skills.
