During his dual international debut representing Türkiye Rugby Union (15-a-side), Errol Carter suffered a catastrophic spinal injury that led to multiple emergency surgeries and permanent neurological damage. He is now facing an even greater challenge with a diagnosis of aggressive brain cancer.

As a player and as a friend, Errol has touched everyone around him. His courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit have left a lasting impact on teammates, coaches, and the wider rugby league and rugby union communities.

Despite everything, he continues to fight for his health, his independence, and his future.

Türk mirası Guler'i Anzak Günü Kupası tarihine taşıyor

Emre Guler geleneksel Dragons-Roosters Anzak Günü maçında sahaya çıktığında, bunu yapan Avustralya ve Türk kökenli ilk oyuncu olacak.
Guler, bir ezici taklede üç maçlık cezadan sonra Allianz Stadyumu'ndaki 24. Anzak Günü Kupası'nda yerini almak için geri dönüyor. St George Illawarra forvet oyuncusu ve eski Titans, Raiders ve Tigers yarı açıcısı Aidan Sezer, NRL'de oynayan Türk kökenli tek oyuncular.
Guler için bu, özel bir anlam taşıyacak bir maç.
"Üç haftadan beri dışardaydım, ama kontrol ettiğim ilk şey bu maçı kaçırıp kaçırmadığımdı," dedi Guler. "Sezer, 'Anzak Günü için bu hafta geri dönmen şanslı' dedi. Şimdiye kadar sadece iki Türk NRL oyuncusu olması ve Anzak Günü maçında oynayan tek kişi olmak, arkasındaki tarihi, Avustralyalıları ve Gelibolu'daki Türk askerlerini bilerek çok özel."
"Daha gençken Anzak Günü maçına üç veya dört kez gittim. Çok fazla futbol maçına gitmeye çalıştım, ama her zaman gitmeye çalıştığım bir tanesi buydu. Kalabalığın çok büyük olduğunu hatırlıyorum, çılgıncaydı. Herkes buna hazırdı. Özel bir maç olduğu için herkesin günü var ve herkes bunun için hazır."
Guler, 2018'de Türkiye için dört Test maçına çıktı ve ayrıca 2019'da Avustralya Başbakanı'nın XIII'ünü temsil etti. 27 yaşındaki oyuncu, Anzak Günü'nde mirasının her iki yönünü de temsil etmekten onur duyduğunu söyledi.
"Annem burada doğdu, ama babam yurt dışında doğdu," dedi. "Kültürleriyle çok bağlantılılar ve nereden geldikleriyle gurur duyuyorlar. Babam bunu tüm çocuklara vurguladı ve kendi araştırmalarımızı yaptık, kültür hakkında her şeyi biliyoruz."
"Ailem sizin için tüm araştırmaları yapar ve nereden geldiğiniz hakkında bilmeniz gerekenleri öğretir. Her iki taraf için de gurur duymaktan kendinizi alamazsınız. Bunu bu haftaya taşıyacağım, iyi olmalı."
Guler, birkaç Anzak törenine katıldığını ve ayrıca Gelibolu'yu ziyaret ettiğini söyledi.
"Son kez 2015'ti, 10 yıl oldu, ama oradaki tüm turları yaptım," dedi. "Neler olduğu hakkında çok şey öğreniyorsunuz. Oldukça gururluyum."
Dragons koçu Shane Flanagan, Guler'in dönüşünün memnuniyetle karşılandığını söyledi.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the European Rugby League and the wider rugby league community for the incredible support you have shown me over the past three years. Unfortunately, during my tenure, the global environment has posed significant challenges for rugby league, particularly in Europe.

We faced missed opportunities for grassroots growth, for advancing education programs, and most importantly, for supporting the development of European Rugby League. These challenges were deeply felt and serve as a reminder of the work that still lies ahead.

I want to express my gratitude to the European Rugby League board for giving me the platform to contribute, to express myself, and to learn. I sincerely wish the European Rugby League the very best for the future as it continues to navigate these challenges and build upon its foundation.

🎉🏉 Huge Day for Heritage Rugby League! 🏉🎉

Today we celebrated the official launch of the 2024 season, with an incredible representation of 22 nations! 🌍🎇 A big thank you to NSW Sports Minister Steve Kamper, NSWRL Head of Community Rugby League Peter Clack, and President of Heritage Rugby League Javed Hamidi for their inspiring opening speeches. 🙌

It was a proud moment for the TRL as players Kerim Caglar, Kaan Kadir, and Koray Kadir, along with board members Gurol Yildiz and Ceyhan Gul, joined us to kick off what promises to be an exciting season! 🇹🇷🏅

This launch marks a significant step forward for the growth and development of Turkish Rugby League in Australia, as well as strengthening the unity among all heritage communities in the sport. 🏆🤝
