The Victoria United Sports Club (VUSC), is a non-profit organization engaged mainly in sporting activities. The club is deeply involved in community activities.
The Victoria United Sports Club (VUSC), is a non-profit organization engaged mainly in sporting activities that provides opportunities for developing the skills of sportsmen as well as participating in positive past times, cultural and community events. Established in 1969, the Barrackpore based team has stood the test of time constantly progressing up the ladder of success. In 2014, the Club was
promoted to the National Premiership League, the highest cricket competition operated by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and stands proudly in this league for the past two years. The club is well known for producing prominent athletes. Some of those include, Rajindra Dhanraj Former West Indies and Senior National Cricketer and Rajkumar Mahadeo Former Senior National Cricketer. More recently, in 2016 the club has produced two national players, Brandon Singh (T&T National under 17 Team) and Shatrughan Rambaran (T&T National under 17 Team). The club is not only sport oriented but also stands as a strong grass root organization. Due reward was received for the past 2 years from Shell Trinidad Limited as they granted the club the Shell community grant which is given to NGOs which perform outstandingly throughout the year. It would be impossible to list the contributions which this club has made to the community but below are a list of items which was conducted during 2016
The club donated several hampers to the less fortunate in the community on a monthly basis
School supplies were purchased for two students for 2015/2016 school year.
One blink wireless modem was donated to a form 5 student of ASJA girls (Loucinna Mongroo) we also bear the monthly bill payment
Donation to accident victim Roland Roopnarine who also lost his brother in the said accident.
Funeral grant was given to the Suchit family.
Cricket implements were given to Makail Jones, Clevon Patterson, Stephen Jogie, Sajid Ali and Khemraj Arjoonsingh.
The club had its annual distribution of gifts and toys at Christmas time for the kids.
Two of our club members were selected to the U17 and U19 National cricket team Brandon Singh and Shatrughan Rambaran respectively we have already ordered kits for them selections were announced on Sunday 12th June. The club operates at the highest level of domestic cricket however currently no main sponsor has so funding is generated mainly through fundraisers and donations from businesses and well-wishers. The Overhead expenditure to manage the club yearly stands at circa four hundred thousand dollars and this include cricket fees, ground rental fees, equipment and other operational costs. The club continues to strive for excellence and thanks you for your cooperation in this endeavor.
