This evening in the Ajoupa Garden….

It’s a bad morning. The dreadful drone of the toxic chemical transport for the elimination of all life, woke me at 5am. I went outside to follow the noise and the smell as it poured its way into every nook and cranny of our village environs. The invisible, poisonous mist of death came just in time to greet the birds waking up from their safe slumbers in the branches and trees along the wayside and I despair. Yes I am passionate about all life, human and all the other creatures that share our planet. Yes I have had dengue fever and I have nursed a grandchild with dengue. It is a dangerous, debilitating disease. But dengue fever mosquitoes breed in clean water. Why can’t we get together as communities and try to educate each other on the importance of keeping our yards clear of the clutter that collects rainwater. If a neighbour is old and needs help, go and help them. Use the media to remind people to clean up, talk to children in school, impress them while they are young. There has to be a better way to provide a healthy life and common sense must tell us that spraying with toxic chemicals is not the way.
