A lifetime ago, I was also a National athlete, representing Trinidad on several Water Polo and Swim Teams. God knows the plan wasn't to become a Swim Instructor. It's a fact my old coaches still tease me about. How could the young girl who gave them so much headache, turn around and become a coach herself? By God's grace...
After the realization that the corporate world wasnt for me, with the knowledge I had as an athlete, I advertised swim lessons in a local moms group. I truly didnt even know if it even made sense at the time...I remember when my first client ever called me, I didnt even know what I was charging, how long classes would be, or what ages I would teach. I had no lesson plans and truly no clue what the next step would even be...
But somehow, bit by bit, client by client, certification upon certification, somewhere along the line, though I'm not sure where, Auntie Ashley's Swimming Lessons became Auntie Ashley's Swimming School. They say family goes past blood. They are the people who choose you again and again, the people who believe in you on the days you dont believe in yourself. My clients are my extended family. Their babies are mine too and honestly, mine are theirs. And it's because of them, because of you, that I get to do what I love, with people I love, saving lives, one baby at a time. 💗
