Areios Aquatechs, was formed in 2013 to facilitate swimming and aquatic related activities for all ages: Learn-to-swim, Precompetitive and Competitive.
Areios Aquatechs, is a Limited Liability Company, which was formed in 2013 to facilitate swimming and aquatic related activities for all ages. It began as a competitive swim club and has since evolved in one year into a learn-to-swim and precompetitive club in addition to its competitive training activities. It continues to expand and has more than doubled its membership in one year, along with a
host of major achievements which have impacted the local aquatics scene and the national sporting scene as well. COACH FRANZ HUGGINS
The common thread among all these athletes is our dynamic and insightful Head Coach, and owner of the club, Franz Huggins. Coach Huggins is a former national swimmer who has transitioned in to coaching with the same passion he showed as a young swimmer in the 1990’s. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Sociology and is an ASCA Certified Coach. A two-time Sportsman of the Year nominee in Trinidad and Tobago, Coach Huggins has swim at NCAA level in the United States and has competed for Trinidad and Tobago at senior level, once being our national open record holder in the 100m butterfly. Since becoming a coach, he spent time as Head Coach at Marlins Swim Club from 2009-2012, at one time presiding over a competitive squad comprising over sixty percent of the National Carifta and CCCAN teams. His swimmers have accounted for over 50 national age group and open records in a four year span from 2009 to 2013, and he has guided swimmers to countless Carifta, CCCAN, and CISC medals. Now in charge of his own club, he is focused on bringing his philosophy of training and aquatic teaching to the fore, unimpeded. SOME OF OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
