Fifty (50) cultural youth ambassadors from Roxborough Police Youth Club have departed Trinidad and Tobago for New York, U.S.A. on a 21 day Cultural Tour. The contingent, which is being led by Mrs Sharon Ramsay Hazel, WPC Rickeisha Small, Ms Krystle Bascombe and Community Development Officer Curtis Archie, are expected to participate in a series of cultural events in New York, promoting the rich and diverse culture of Tobago.
This is the 13th bi-annual visit of the Roxborough Police Youth Club to the U.S.A. The 50 strong contingent, lead by the clubˋs artistic director Mrs Karen Berkely Charles will be engaged in performances such as the launch of the West Indian Day Carnival to the Labour Day Parade on September 3rd 2024. Persons can view the clubˋs performances at several events such as the Launch of New York Carnival, 5pm at the Brooklyn Childrenˋs Museum, The popular Tobago day celebration on Sunday 18th August, Children's Festival Youth Pan fest 24th of August 1 pm at St Johnˋs Pl between Brooklyn and kingston, Brooklyn Back to School Concert Brooklyn Museum on Saturday 31st of August, the Guyana Folk Festival on the 1st of September and lastly the Labour Day Celebration on September 3rd at the Eastern Park Way.
This visit is a collaboration between Director of the Arts Medgar Evers College Preparatory School and the Roxborough Police Youth Club. The Roxborough Police Youth Club expresses its thanks to the undermentioned institutions and businesses who have contributed in making this tour possible. Farley Chavez Agustine), Port Mall, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Orange Hill Gas Station, Mt Pleasant Credit Union, Police Credit Union, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association, Caribbean Airlines, Hassel Alleyne Architecture and Interior Design, Bayleaf Bacolet,Ven Caribbean Paper Products Limited, Belgroves Funeral Home Company, CSF Couriers Ltd, Dane Phillips Plumbing Services, Nabi Constructions Limited, BAE Weekend, Parks International Limited and Roxborough Police Youth Club Parent Body.
This programme sparks the Roxborough Police Youth club Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Youth Club Movement which was birthed in 1974 in John John Trinidad. The organisation aims to use this opportunity also to promote Tobago as a tourist destination and the Tobago Carnival 2024.
