⛰️ Mt Qilai — wild, dramatic and one of our favourite mountains in Taiwan.
Qilai has a reputation for being one of Taiwan’s more serious mountains, but it’s also one of the most beautiful.
Starting high at Songxue Lodge, the trail quickly leaves the crowds behind and heads into some of the most impressive alpine scenery in the Central Mountain Range. The journey takes in Qilai Main Peak (3,560m) and the much more dramatic Qilai North Peak (3,607m), with huge views across the surrounding mountains when the weather plays along.
There’s also something new on Qilai this year — the new Qilai cabin (奇萊山莊), replacing the old cabin and supporting the Chenggong Cabin and makes an overnight on the mountain a different experience.
It’s still Qilai though. Steep climbs, changeable weather, big views and a mountain that always feels like a proper adventure.
Definitely not one to rush. ⛰️🥾
