CHINESE TAIPEI VS. ARUBA: Chinese Taipei, the Asia-Pacific Regional champ who has captured the last four Junior League World Series titles, is hunting another. The squad from Shing-Ming LL, Taoyuan crushed Aruba on Wednesday, August 12 10-0 in a mercy-rule-shortened game.
As a result, Chinese Taipei (2-0) advances to the International Championship Game on Saturday, August 15 against either Mexico or Aruba. Aruba (1-1) plays an elimination game at 5 p.m. Thursday against Mexico.
Chinese Taipei used power and speed to score twice in each of the first two innings. They then blew the game open by scoring three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Meanwhile, starting pitcher Tian-En Ma cruised through four innings, giving up no runs, one hit and striking out six.
In the first inning, Yung-Tai Hsu and Yi-Le Sung hit consecutive run-scoring doubles for a 2-0 lead. The following inning, Ye-Chieh Chao doubled and Tzu-En Chao bunted for a base hit. Each eventually scored. In the three-run fourth inning, the big hit was a two-run single by Tzu-En Chao.
