Tanzacat is a seriously fun open catamaran regatta of two parts, bay racing in Msasani Bay and the six day Zanzibar Raid, visiting sandbars for lunch, the famous Stone Town Zanzibar to overnight and party.

Tanzacat Zanzibar Raid is over. Sailors are celebrating the end of a great 9 days sailing. Some bodies are aching, most joints are stiff, everyone is well fed and recovery drinks are flowing. Our Aussie and Omani friends have enjoyed the event and will be back with friends in the future. The sailing gear is drying. Cannot wait for next year. And one old fella turns 70 tomorrow and one young lass 18 today.

This is the happy Tanzacat 2024 crew. Great day of racing yesterday with two legs completed, a great lunch on Kwale Island, and crossing the glorious turquoise waters around the Menai Bay islands, and the deep blue out in the open water. Kizimkazi beach sunset and damage inspection.
The raid is arriving in Kizimkazi Zanzibar, some serious damage to F18s. A cold drink awaits. Commiserations are in order. But we will enjoy the hospitality of Karamba.

And that was day three. Hobie 16 race abandoned after 2.5 hours and only about a third of the day’s course completed. Tigers managed to finish first boat in at 5.00pm. But at least there was a great dinner and good company to be enjoyed at 6degS restaurant in Stone Town, and the prospect of another three days sailing.
