🇹🇿🐟 TANZANIA BEGINS DIALOGUE ON AQUATIC ANIMAL WELFARE
Tanzania, through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, in collaboration with stakeholders in the aquaculture sector, has continued to emphasize the importance of the welfare of fish and other aquatic animals as a key part of the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry.

During the meeting held in Dar es Salaam from August 31 to September 1, 2026, stakeholders had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences on farming practices that prioritize the health and welfare of aquatic animals, better production systems, and the safety of fish products for consumers.

For Tanzania and Africa as a whole, the growth of the aquaculture sector must go hand in hand with responsible farming, the use of best production practices, and the protection of both fish health and consumer health.

AAT continues to support efforts aimed at increasing knowledge, professionalism, and the sustainable growth of the aquaculture sector in Tanzania. 🇹🇿🌊

🇹🇿🐟 TANZANIA YAANZA MJADALA WA USTAWI WA VIUMBE MAJI

Tanzania kupitia Wizara ya Mifugo na Uvuvi, kwa kushirikiana na wadau wa sekta ya ukuzaji viumbe maji, imeendelea kuweka msisitizo katika umuhimu wa ustawi wa samaki na viumbe maji k**a sehemu muhimu ya maendeleo endelevu ya sekta ya aquaculture.

Katika mkutano uliofanyika Dar es Salaam kuanzia Agosti 31 hadi Septemba 1, 2026, wadau walipata nafasi ya kubadilishana maarifa na uzoefu kuhusu ufugaji unaozingatia afya na ustawi wa viumbe maji, uzalishaji bora pamoja na usalama wa mazao ya samaki kwa walaji.

Kwa Tanzania na Afrika kwa ujumla, ukuaji wa sekta ya aquaculture unapaswa kwenda sambamba na ufugaji unaowajibika, matumizi ya mbinu bora za uzalishaji na kulinda afya ya samaki na walaji.

AAT inaendelea kuunga mkono juhudi zinazolenga kuongeza maarifa, taaluma na maendeleo endelevu ya sekta ya ukuzaji viumbe maji nchini Tanzania. 🇹🇿🌊

🐟 Mbegu bora ya samaki ni msingi wa sekta ya ufugaji samaki inayostawi.

From , Dkt. Charles Iyangbe, Mwakilishi wa WorldFish nchini Nigeria, alisisitiza umuhimu wa kuwekeza katika kuifanya biashara ya uzalishaji wa mbegu za samaki kuwa endelevu na yenye tija barani Afrika.

Upatikanaji wa uhakika wa mbegu bora za samaki unaweza kuwasaidia wafugaji kuongeza uzalishaji, kuboresha tija na kukidhi ongezeko la mahitaji ya vyakula vitokanavyo na viumbe wa majini.

Ushirikiano wa kikanda na kurahisisha usafirishaji wa mbegu za samaki kuvuka mipaka kunaweza kufungua fursa kubwa zaidi. Kuwekeza katika mifumo ya uzalishaji na usambazaji wa mbegu za samaki ni kuwekeza katika ajira, usalama wa chakula na kuimarisha mnyororo wa thamani wa vyakula vitokanavyo na viumbe wa majini.

🌊 SEAWEED FARMING: TANZANIA’S BLUE OPPORTUNITY

Seaweed farming is more than growing crops in the ocean. It is creating livelihoods, supporting coastal communities, empowering women and contributing to the growth of Tanzania’s Blue Economy.

From the coastal waters of Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania, seaweed aquaculture has the potential to grow beyond raw production into value addition, processing, innovation, export and sustainable employment.

This December, Tanzania welcomes the global aquaculture community for World Aquaculture 2026 Tanzania, under the theme:

“Aquaculture Driving Blue Transformation.”

Seaweed farming is already part of that transformation. 🌱🌊

Let us use World Aquaculture 2026 to learn, connect, invest and explore how Tanzania can build a stronger and more profitable seaweed industry.
