What is proper nutrition?
One in which the body receives from food all the substances it needs in adequate quantities - no less and no more than it needs. We are talking about proteins, carbohydrates, different types of fats, vitamins, fiber, calcium and so on. On the one hand, proper nutrition should be varied, because the body requires a variety of elements: proteins break down into amino acids, which are used as "building blocks" for building new cells, fatty acids help the heart, fiber improves intestinal function. On the other hand, food is a source of energy, the amount of which is measured in calories. How many calories a particular person needs depends on their activity, gender and age. For example, a professional bodybuilder with a height of 170 cm and a weight of 90 kg needs about 3,500 kcal per day, and an office worker who does not play sports will need 2,000 kcal. You can calculate this indicator taking into account a variety of factors using a special calculator.

So this is a diet?
No, nutrition is not a diet. Diet is most often a temporary, severe or even extreme restriction of nutrition. For example, athletes go on a short-term diet in order to "fit" into the weight category before the competition - in this case, this is an expedient and quick way to lose extra pounds, but not very healthy. Popular among the people mono-diets (the use of only one product, for example, kefir or buckwheat) or food systems, like the one invented by Ducan, can seriously harm health. For example, protein overload during a carbohydrate-free diet is dangerous for people with kidney disease.
Proper nutrition, in contrast to diet, is not a temporary measure, but a system for the formation of good habits. Those who are on a diet constantly want something forbidden, and often this leads to breakdowns and remorse. With proper nutrition, there are no forbidden foods, although there are undesirable ones. As a result, the person eats balanced and feels good, so there are no breakdowns.

It turns out that proper nutrition is for life?
Yes, but this does not mean that the lifestyle needs to be radically changed in a day or a week. You can start small. Control how much added sugar (that is, that which is added to food from the outside) you eat: the daily value is not more than 30 grams. Snack on fresh fruits and vegetables instead of cookies and waffles, and quench your thirst with water instead of sugary soda. Gradually, a healthy lifestyle will become familiar and comfortable. Regularity is important in proper nutrition, but it is better to get rid of perfectionism so as not to scold yourself for the slightest "mistakes". For example, the WHO recommends 150 minutes of moderate physical activity (such as brisk walking) per week: if you fulfill this norm for at least three weeks a month, this is already an excellent result and you lead an active lifestyle. Likewise, eating a piece of cake is not a terrible sin or a mistake, as long as you regularly eat healthy foods.

Is it possible to eat right without being hungry?
Of course, proper nutrition is not about fasting or dieting. The feeling of hunger appears due to insufficient calorie intake. Therefore, the main thing is to choose a daily diet with a calorie content suitable for you, then attacks of hunger will not arise. By the way, filling the stomach with food also affects the feeling of satiety: when the walls of the stomach stretch, their nerve endings send a signal to the brain that you are full.
