How did boxing get its name?
The sport gets its name from the noun box, “a blow, as with the hand or fist,” and verb box, “to strike with the hand or fist.” Box is recorded as early as the 1300s, and its ultimate obscure is origin.

How old is boxing?
Early years. Boxing first appeared as a formal Olympic event in the 23rd Olympiad (688 bce), but fist-fighting contests must certainly have had their origin in mankind's prehistory. The earliest visual evidence for boxing appears in Sumerian relief carvings from the 3rd millennium bce.

Serhii Dzindziruk had an outstanding career as a boxer, who achieved significant success in amateur and professional competitions. At the amateur level, the Crimean will win twice to become the medalist of the European champions and win the "silver" of the world championship.

Serhiy became a professional in 1999. The Ukrainian won as many as 37 fights in a row. The path to the title of Serhiy began in 2003, when he won the title of the WBO Intercontinental Champion in the first middleweight.

Among the Ukrainian boxing champions, there was a place for a woman. Alina Shaternikova is still the strongest Ukrainian boxer.

In 2000, Shaternikova got a chance to win the prestigious WIBF world champion title. Despite Alina's dominance, the judges gave a scandalous victory to the German Regina Halmich.
