Latvian football championship will go right down to the wire again

For the second year in a row, the identity of Latvia's football champions will be decided on the final day of the soccer season.
Following this weekend's games which saw RFS secure third place, two teams remain in contention for the top spot. After a crushing 6:1 victory away to Supernova, longtime league leaders Valmiera are the favorites. As long as they avoid defeat to Liepāja on Saturday, they will be crowned champions for the first time ever.

However, if Valmiera are defeated by fourth-placed Liepāja in Kurzeme, Rīga can still steal the title if they beat big-city rivals and current champions RFS in the capital's derby match.

All final-round matches kick off at 13:00 on Saturday, November 12 and should provide a thrilling finale to the season.
