Is Iceland good at soccer?
The Icelandic men's national team has qualified for the 2018 World Cup. This is the first time in history that such a small nation has qualified and we are extremely proud! Many remember the dream like a fairytale in the 2016's Euro Cup when the Icelandic team beat England and matched Portugal's goal.

Why is Iceland good at football?
We can firmly point to three factors to explain the recent success of the Icelandic men´s national team. First class training facilities, high level of coach education and a good generation of players. These three factors combined are the main contributors. Factors such as mentality and culture may also play a part.

1. Iceland is the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup finals with population slightly over 335,000. The previous smallest country to qualify for the finals was Trinidad & Tobago with population around 1.3 million people.
