FIDE - International Chess Federation visits kiryandongo Refugee camp
The Sudanese in the refugee camps by culture believed that chess was only for men but after being defeated by a woman (won all games against men drawing one) WGM Dana Ozola Reizniece , their perception changed. Thanks to FIDE under President Arkady Dvorkovich for visiting Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Dana Ozola Reizniece (FIDE Managing Director), sonja johnson (chair person PDC), Mikhail (former sherif of chicago).
apparently women are embraced to freely play the game of chess, inspired south Sudan as a country to involve women in the game of chess.
