It's a sad moment in Uganda as the country mourns the demise of Rebecca Cheptegei
Rebecca Cheptegei (22 Feb 1991– 5 Sep 2024) was a Ugandan cross country, long-distance and marathon runner, who was the national record holder in the latter discipline and a former world champion in mountain running.
She died on 5 September 2024 of an alleged domestic violence attack over a land dispute with her ex-boyfriend.

Kibale Forest National Park!

By far this is the best destination for chimpanzee trekking in the world.

Guided walks to track Chimpanzees happen between 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, starting with registration and briefing and trekking usually last for 2 to 5 hours.

Participants are placed in groups of about 6 and must be above 16 years old.

Kibale has about 1500 chimpanzees with some communities that have been monitored since 1993 ensuring that tourist always encounter chimps on their trek.

How to get to Kibale National Park!

1) By road
Take the Kampala - Fortportal highway approximately 326 kms (about 6 hours). From Fortportal, it’s an hour’s drive.

2) By air
Take a flight from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip to Kasese Airstrip (1 hour flight) then 2 hours by road to the park.

NOTE
Groups of more than 20 people get a discount of 20% on a given day.

This is Kasese, so far the cleanest in Uganda.
Kasese is located right on the equator yet between Rwenzori mountains national park and Queen Elizabeth National park. Also a gateway to Bwindi impenetrable national park (for gorilla tracking) and Kibale national park ( for chimps tracking).

Journey to the top of Uganda, 5109metres above sea level.
Seven days up and back to the base.
The hike is more enjoyable in the dry season with clear views unveiling.

Another short trip to the Rwenzori mountains.
After enjoying breakfast at the edge of the rainforest our guests get oriented and briefed about the whole trek, a five days and four nights hiking tour requiring a whole crew of porters, chefs, ranger guides all spice up the experience. The guests start a 2-3 hour hike along the gentle trail. The mountains welcome them with its unique lush fascinating scenery , and with a bit of luck clients can see blue monkeys in the trees, common chimpanzees, dickers, three horned chameleons among others in the tropical forest and Bamboo zones.
After a short hike the crew and hikers arrive at Nyabitaba Camp where they spend their first night, the camp is between two rivers and overlooks the portal peaks.
This trek is doable by both experienced and first Time hikers, try it out in this low season where prices are subsided and less congestion along the trails
