Ssinzi Maria Nabatanzi
Current Occupation: Lifeguard, Front Office Aid at the Engineering Technical Services at ASU, and manager at the Sundevil fitness center.
Education journey: Graduated high school in 2021 at Brandon Hall School in Georgia. I currently attend Arizona State University, studying Biomedical Engineering. I recently got accepted in the BSE and MS accelerated program for Biomedical Engineering for fall 2024.
Memorable time at Seals Swim Club: The friendships I made at Seals Swim Club were truly special and stand out the most to me. We formed such tight bonds that went beyond just swimming. Whether it was cheering each other on during races, pushing each other to improve, or simply hanging out outside of practice, these friendships made my time at Seals incredibly memorable and rewarding.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club: I consider being an inspiration to younger swimmers my most notable achievement at Seals. Being someone people can look up to is very rewarding because that means I have positively impacted their lives, motivated them to strive for their best, and contributed to their growth and success in swimming.
Advice for seals swimmers Today: Embrace the journey, cherish friendships, stay committed, set ambitious goals, have fun, and support each other.

Seals swimmer: Anthea Mudanye
Current occupation: Compliance Analyst
Education journey: Attended Word of Life, Bethel, Aga Khan Kampala for primary and secondary studies. I attended Soka University of America (International Studies with a focus on China).
Memorable time at Seals Swim Club: The leadership skills, confidence, and time management skills I gained over the years are what stand out most about my time at Seals. These come as a result of mentorship from my parents and Seals parents as well as from my coaches who constantly gave me feedback inside and outside of the pool, swimming and non-swimming related.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club: My most notable achievement would be maintaining a love for the sport even when I did not feel like showing up for myself, in order to show up for the team. Showing up everyday was hard when I saw some of my peers begin to lose a love for the sport, however, as part of my growth and with the help of my coaches I realised that the love and discipline for and within the sport had to come from within myself.
Advice for seals swimmers Today: In as much as this may be an individual sport, your teammates look to you for support and encouragement just as you look to them. How you show up at practice and swim meets is important in your improvement as a swimmer. Be honest with your coaches about how you feel so that they can understand how to help you reach your full potential, and show up even when you don’t feel like it.

Memorable time at Seals Swim Club: How the team really felt like family, which made daily training and competition 10 times better, and swimming more enjoyable.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club: Getting the chance to be a captain for the club, as it was a goal that I had been working towards since my first few months of joining Seals.
Advice for Seals swimmers Today: My advice to current swimmers is to understand that discipline and patience are key. I learned these two life skills in the pool, and they have poured out into different aspects of my life today.

Current Occupation: University student
Education journey: Attended primary school at Kampala Parents School and secondary school at Vienna College Namugongo. Currently a student at Griffith University, GoldCoast, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia studying Bachelor of Business(Sports Management)
Memorable time at Seals Swim Club: Joining Seals for me was like a home outside my home. I made many friends from strict, God-fearing, loving families, who made daily training and competitions very interesting.
We made genuine connections and networks, which are priceless. We learnt to build endurance which has enabled me survive on my own this far off from home. I've also not shied away from participating in track& field events and marathons, thanks to the foundation laid by the Seals rigorous training, schedules and routines.
Seals taught me discipline, commitment and hard work virtues that have kept me solidly grounded at university.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club: Qualifying for and participating at the CANA zone swimming meets and of course the many medals and trophies I won as a young swimmer, all of which, are hanging proudly at home.
Advice for seals swimmers Today: Please listen to your parents and coaches. Believe me, they know what's best for you. Make the most of your time at Seals, make friends, many, many friends, enjoy the ride, but most importantly, whatever you do, finish strong 💪.

Current Occupation: Student at North Gwinnett High School
Memorable time at Seals Swim Club: To me the Seals community stands out the most, I was able to build long friendships and feel like I was part of a family.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club: Besides all the medals and trophies collected throughout the years, the most notable achievement was the self discipline and punctuality swimming at Seals taught me. These habits, I continue to carry with me and exercise in real world.
Advice for seals swimmers Today: Die a little and find greatness. I used to question myself whenever training was difficult, was it worth it? I can now confidently answer that question, yes! It wasn’t just about the swimming it was about the person I became outside the water. I found the greatness, and you can too!

Memorable time at Seals Swim Club
What stands out most about my time at Seals Swim Club is the incredible journey of personal growth and development I experienced from the moment I joined in February 2015. Starting at the squad level, I progressed through the ranks and achieved Gold squad status by October 2015. The transformation I underwent in my swimming abilities was remarkable, considering that I could barely swim more than two laps when I first joined.
The dedicated coaches at Seals Swim Club played a pivotal role in my development, instilling in me the core values of discipline through sport. Their guidance and tough training sessions not only improved my swimming skills but also equipped me with the endurance to face various challenges in life. Making multiple personal bests became a testament to the hard work and determination cultivated within the club.
Beyond the pool, the parents at the club became mentors, teaching me valuable lessons about different aspects and fundamentals of life. The company I shared with my teammates, who evolved into brothers and sisters, created a competitive drive that made every training session interesting. The collective focus on developing each other contributed to our shared success.
As an ambassador for the sport of swimming since I joined Seals, I have had the privilege of influencing others to take up swimming and join the club. The benefits I enjoyed, both in terms of physical fitness and life skills, have made my time at Seals Swim Club truly memorable and impactful.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club
Winning the award of the most improved swimmer in the first year I joined the club.
Advice for seals swimmers Today
Remember, success in the pool isn't just about what happens on race day; it's about the effort you put in during training. So, my advice to all of you is to give it your all during practice. The hard work you put in during training will reflect in your performance on race day.
Don't be afraid to push yourselves. If you train hard, you'll see significant improvements in your results. Embrace the challenges, and use them as opportunities to become stronger and faster swimmers.
Always seek guidance from your coaches and teammates. They are there to support you and help you improve. Pay attention to their feedback, ask questions, and learn from each other. Teamwork makes the dream work, and together, you can achieve great things.
Lastly, enjoy the journey! Swimming is not just about the destination; it's about the experiences, friendships, and personal growth along the way. Stay positive, stay motivated, and keep reaching for your goals.
Go Seals! 🌊🏆

Education journey
Completed High School at Vienna College Namugongo, currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at the University of South Carolina, USA.
Memorable time at Seals Swim Club
Seals was always more than just a club for me. We wouldn’t just show up to swim and go home at the end of the day… we were a community, we enjoyed each others company and constantly wanted to make each other better, and the club as a whole. Every training session felt like a competition, with every swimmer wanting to lead a set for a stroke they did best. In many ways, Seals helped me learn how to “dig in”, how to stay in there even when things got tough and that got me through most of my days/classes in University.
Notable swimming achievement at Seals Swim Club
Making the Uganda national team and participating at multiple continental and zonal events.
Advice for seals swimmers Today
Stay the course! It’s difficult and maybe you feel like there’s so much more you’d be doing if not for this, but it is worth it! Just stay the course, listen and be willing to learn.
