Our son Matthew Musiitwa is a 17-year-old on the lower side of autism spectrum youth from Uganda who has learned to turn what the world often overlooks into something meaningful. Through art, he expresses a voice that society too often tries to silence. He proudly calls himself “The Art Master,” a name that reflects not ego, but ownership of his talent, his growth, and his story. In a place where children with autism frequently face stigma, limited access to education, and low expectations, Matthew has chosen creation over limitation.
The artwork shown in the picture crafted from a natural pine cone captures Matthew’s artistic language perfectly. He works with found, natural materials, transforming ordinary objects into pieces that invite closer attention. The careful arrangement, texture, and balance in this piece reflect patience, focus, and an intuitive understanding of form. For Matthew, art is not just decoration; it is communication. Each piece becomes a quiet but powerful statement of how he sees the world structured, detailed, and deeply connected to nature.
By selling his art, Matthew is doing more than earning income; he is challenging assumptions about disability and ability. He stands as living proof that with support, belief, and space to create, autistic children can thrive and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Matthew’s journey as The Art Master is one of resilience, creativity, and hope reminding us that talent does not ask for permission, and brilliance often grows from places the world least expects.

Very bad news. Kayondo Ronnie an eagles play who sustained an injury yesterday in Kyadondo and later operated at Kampala hospital has passed on today at Kampala Hospital

May his soul rest in peace 😢
