Aberdeen Gymnastics Association

Aberdeen Gymnastics Association (AGA) operates under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). If you are interested in competing recreationally or through a school program, join AGA today!

We are located in the Aberdeen Central High School Gym!

Mission: AGA’s mission is to provide excellent, capable instruction for both aspiring and competitive gymnasts, where athletes are taught strength, agility, and flexibility skills, learn responsibility and independence, and have fellowship with other gymnasts and coaches.

Operating as usual

As the CHS πŸ’™πŸ’› πŸ¦… school season approaches, AGA will share some info for their season, as many of our gymnasts compete in the school team also.

Before school season try outs, there are a series of open gyms scheduled. They are not mandatory, but simply a way to get in the gym and do some practice prior to the season start. They are as follows:

Weekly billing begins! All private lessons held last Saturday through tonight will be billed tomorrow morning, with payments processed with the card on file in your account.

Download the GoMotion app today!

AGA will also be using the SMS texting for weather-related announcements, private lessons, and more. Coaches can even share videos (privately) on your gymnast's progress! Make sure your AGA account is set up SMS and your phone number is verified. (Go to your account --> enter your cell number in the SMS field --> enter your phone carrier in the carrier field --> receive an auto text to verify)

Aberdeen Gymnastics Association - Coaches and Instructors

Have you met our newest coach? Click and scroll down and meet Coach Mary!

aberdeengymnastics.com Coach MickeyΒ started training as a gymnast when she was just three years old. She was honored to be one of the first two 7th graders allowed to participate in a varsity sport at Aberdeen Central High School (CHS), where she competed through the age of 18 years of age. She proceeded to earn a B.S. E...

[09/10/20]   Starting next week, we will do billing once weekly for any private lessons held that week. And, to make it EASIER, we will now split the group lesson and bill each gymnast individually. Instead of one gymnast paying AGA for the lesson and working out reimbursement with the others, we will be able to bill each of the gymnasts their equal part. For example, for a small group of 3, the private lesson price is $45/hr lesson. If they have their private lesson Tuesday, then the Fri of that week, we will bill each gymnast $15. If the lesson is held on the weekend, it is billed the following Friday. Lessons will continue to be set up directly with the coaches, and will always be billed after they are held, in case something comes up or plans change. Lesson availability will continue until the school gymnastic season begins.

IMPORTANT ---> in order to schedule lessons, you must have an active AGA (GoMotion) account and active AAU membership ($16/year). Contact us via email to put in contact with a coach.

[08/30/20]   At this time, we will not have regular classes this fall. There are limitations on times the facility will be available to us, and there are also certain criteria and requests that Central has asked us to continue to respect and adhere to with regards to Coronavirus. However, because we are a feeder program into their gymnastics program, we can thankfully continue training gymnasts who would/will be eligible to compete for Central now or in the future.

Competitive-track gymnasts who plan to compete this winter or early spring will be prioritized for private lessons, which are by coach arrangement only. Please reach out to [email protected] for information and for the details to sign up, including AAU renewal information and registration details. We are sorry for the inconvenience and uncertainty! We plan on getting regular classes going when we can. E-mail for any questions!

Fall update on the website! See www.aberdeengymnastics.com for details.

With multiple restrictions still in place on the use of the gymnastics facility within Central High School due to Coronavirus, and we regret to inform you that we will hold no general fall classes. An email regarding the Bronze competitive team is coming soon. See the website for details regarding private lessons.

Check out the updated Aberdeen Central Gymnastics tab for information on the school gymnastics season.

[07/09/20]   Just a reminder - the week of July July 20-24 πŸ—“ there will be CHS Cheer camp utilizing the gym in the evenings. Schedule your lessons now if you require evening availability.

If you find you'd like to purchase additional private lessons, avoid having to sign the waivers (again), and use the EASY way!
Drop us an email at [email protected] with how many lessons you'd like to purchase. We'll create a charge to your account and can process the payment right away. Easy peasy.

[06/18/20]   It is soooo good to have gymnasts back in the gym! Our first lessons have been scheduled and are ongoing. There is flexibility this summer as YOU get to schedule what works for you! You can choose the number of private or semi-private (groups up to 3) lessons you'd like, register and sign all the waivers online (no paper!) and then schedule and use them up as it works for your family's schedule. Take advantage of the deeply discounted private lesson pricing and receive individual instruction for your gymnast this summer!

We will be updating the website quite a bit between now and fall, so check back regularly - there are some neat new features like the social feed (kind of like our own private Facebook), and there is a mobile app (an update posted yesterday!). Look for future posts that highlight these fun features.

[06/12/20]   Wow! AGA is getting there! We are seeing gymnasts showing up in our new registration system. Exciting! IF you'd also, when you register, fill out the SMS field with your cell phone number, then if we ever need to text a winter cancellation this winter or something else, we can easily do that to keep you updated. Thanks!

Also, we were asked today, "What if you have to shut down due to COVID-19?" If that should happen, the board will negotiate a fair outcome, depending on the timing, how long shut-down is anticipated, etc. We know we need to be fluid. So please, do not hesitate to reach out to us by messaging here on Facebook or emailing us at for any questions and concerns: [email protected].

We are proceeding with very SPECIALLY priced privates. The registration is live on-line now. Here's what you need to know:

~~Privates can be individual, two-people, or three-people. You must choose your own participants for the two-people and three-people groups. ONE member of the group must be responsible for paying AGA on-line (and then the other gymnasts compensate you directly, not AGA). But EVERY gymnast must still be registered on-line, even if someone else payed the fee. (Costs are $35 for an individual lesson. $40 for a two person group lesson. And $45 for a three person group lesson. These are steeply discounted just for summer since we can’t hold classes. You can buy as many as 16 at a time if your gymnast wants to have lessons regularly all summer.)

Summary: One family pays and registers--but the other girls in the group must also go register on-line, and they'll not be charged anything.

~~After you register, you'll get the contact information to set up the actual time of your private with the coach. (The funky times listed are a computer system work-around for this unique situation we're in with hosting so many privates this summer.)

~~Register at: www.aberdeengymnastics.com

~~Everyone MUST be AAU (if you're not sure, I'll check for you.

~~We are trying to develop a Bronze Level AAU team and have a registration for those gymnasts. Remember, this is a beginning skill level! (I know. I know. Some of our advanced elementary gymnasts want to compete too. It is a goal for us, but not yet there! πŸ™‚ )

~~COVID-19 places some unusual restrictions (like which doors to come in and go out of and no locker rooms or general use of bathrooms) at Central High School, so PLEASE read the COVID-19 page on our website (under policies and procedures)

**I think there will be lots of questions. We will field them the best we can. We ask for grace. I'm afraid it might be confusing at first, but we will figure it out with your patience. The board members all volunteer because we love this sport, this Aberdeen community, and the kids we have who participate (ours and yours!). Message us right away with questions so we can try to help.

aberdeengymnastics.com We have the green light to get back to training gymnasts! To ensure the health and well-being of our athletesΒ and staff, we will adhereΒ to the protocols recommended by our school, local, state, AND federal COVID-19 guidelines. Gymnast and staff safety is our top priority in this unprecedented COVI...

[06/04/20]   UPDATE: Central High School has said that we should be able to start private lessons on June 15th. (FINGERS CROSSED!!!!) We are busy buying cleaners, spray bottles, sanitizers, rags, buckets--- and A NEW ON-LINE REGISTRATION system!

No more standing in registration lines after a long day of work or mailing in forms! COVID-19 opened up the opportunity for AGA to affordably purchase a fantastic on-line registration system through Go Motion, a branch of Sports Engine (if you're familiar with that). We hope to get that live and running to you by June 10th so you can start fitting some private lessons into your gymnast's schedule. (You'll pay on-line, but we will get you the e-mail and/or number to call to set up the privates directly with the coach to work out times that work.)

Again, registration for this should start ABOUT June 10th. Gymnasts can do one-on-one lessons or may also choose THEIR OWN small groups (AGA will not arrange groups--these must be arranged by the gymnasts) of up to three gymnasts.

Please e-mail me at [email protected] for any AGA gymnastics questions, concerns, or needs. This is a challenging time for every single one of us, and we at AGA will keep rolling with the punches to try to get our girls safely in the gym. -----Terri Fites, AGA President

[05/18/20]   :::::SUMMER CLASS UPDATE:::::

Although we had enthusiastically planned a 2020 summer session with expanded options for our gymnasts, adding in a competitive Bronze level and increasing our intermediate skill-level options
due to the COVID-19 🦠 pandemic, we are dejectedly 😫 CANCELING 😫our summer class session plans.

The re-opening of all gyms at CHS is still to be determined by administration and depends on β€œthe conditions on the ground ☠️ with COVID-19.

🚦 WHAT CAN WE DO? πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ 🧠 πŸ‘€

If and when the CHS gyms re-open this summer, we will endeavor to at least have the option for PRIVATE LESSONS for gymnasts, as a small group πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€ΈπŸ»πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ or as an individual πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ.

Our coaches are now working to develop an acceptable plan to present to the administration, in conjunction with other CHS sports activities that share space with AGA in the accessory gym.

They are also thinking creatively to see if there are other things that can be done πŸ’ͺ🏻 without the use of a gym, such as πŸ“² Zoom πŸ’» classes.

[05/07/20]   βŒ¨οΈπŸ’»πŸ“±πŸ“²πŸ’»βŒ¨οΈπŸ–₯
We have hoped, researched, texted, emailed, talked, and continue to meet virtually, and πŸ™ŒπŸ» WE HAVE A PLAN πŸ™ŒπŸ» for summer classes! Our fingers are 🀞🏻 that we can release details soon to you!

We miss our gym home, and are awaiting the final policies from CHS, developed in accordance with social distancing and the ever-changing pandemic guidelines.

Mark your calendars πŸ“† for July 17-19th for our AGA πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ Gymnastics πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ camp!
We have an excellent coach, Jon Janzen from MAGS Gymnastics in Mankato, MN, scheduled as long as circumstances allow. 🀞🏻

The AGA board continues to meet virtually each month to plan what can be planned in the uncertainty of COVID-19.
Please email Terri Fites at [email protected] for the meeting link or if you're interested in a board position!
The next board meeting is our Annual Spring Meeting, on May 13th, at 6:30pm.

We miss our gymnasts! When circumstances allow, AGA's coaches are ready to teach classes! We don't know when that will be, but please know that we can get moving quickly when the time comes! We don't know what kind of notice any of us will have about these things, but we will do our best to communicate when we know anything substantial. In the meantime, be well and keep active.

[03/18/20]   // ANNOUNCEMENT \\

Due to the extended school
closure announced yesterday, and in following the public health guidelines for COVID-19 pandemic, the spring session is CANCELLED.

More specific information will be emailed out today to those that had registered for the session.

[03/12/20]   IMPORTANT NOTICE:
As released by the Aberdeen School District today:

The Aberdeen District will suspend all facility use by non-Aberdeen School District organizations effective 5:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2020 until further notice.

AGA is a non-Aberdeen School District organization. We are hopeful this is short-term, and that the spring session will go on as planned.

As we continue to grow 🌱 more fully into a competitive AAU gymnastic program, we have created names for the levels that align more with the AAU level system. Our levels are skill-based (see skill sets posted πŸ‘‡πŸ» in comments) rather than age or grade based, and for gymnasts age 6 and older. This spring, we will not be offering a beginner class.

The *NEW* class levels for spring are:

AMETHYST: equivalent to our prior Experienced Elementary (EE) and Middle School Beginner’s (MSB) classes

SAPPHIRE: equivalent to our Middle School Advanced (MSA) classes

EMERALD: equivalent to our Junior Varsity and Varsity Classes
