Lessons with Lela and Margaret Welcome to Lessons with Lēla and Margaret! We are swim teachers located in Abilene, Kansas who teach both private and group lessons. We have over 10 years of competitive swim experience and are certified lifeguards. We work out of a private, heated pool!

Set your alarms and get ready! Our sign ups for our final season will be posted March 9th at 12:00pm! These are the lesson dates we will offer this year, please be aware there are less spots this summer, so you will need to be ready.

Lessons with Lēla and Margaret will be coming back for one final season with just Margaret. When talking this past year about what we were going to do, we realized we are about to enter the next stages of our lives and are at the perfect place to step back from swimming lessons. Margaret will be coming back for one final season before leaving for college to pursue a degree in nursing. She will also continue working as a CNA throughout this summer in addition to lessons. Lēla will be graduating in May with a degree in business finance and will be starting her job after that. Even though Lēla is not coming back this summer, we will not be changing the name or calling ourselves anything other than Lessons with Lēla and Margaret. This is because while Lēla may not be teaching this summer, it would not feel right not to have our names listed there together. The seven summers this swim business has been around have been full of some of the best moments of our lives! There are not enough words to describe how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to work with your kids throughout the years, make fun memories, and meet incredible families along the way. While it is sad for us knowing this is the last season of lessons with Lēla and Margaret, we are also very excited for what life has for us next. We will forever be proud that we get to say we started off as swim teachers and get to tell people about all of our fun stories and crazy memories! Thank you!

Look at these awesome swimmers! Back floats are one of the hardest skills we work on, many swimmers find it very difficult to balance while feeling water in their ears and on the back of their heads. Both swimmers did such a good job this week being brave and getting comfortable laying on their backs (and their moms did a great job taking such cute photos of their hard work) ;)
Margaret has openings at 10:30am and 3:00pm this week and both Lēla and Margaret have openings at 11:30 the week of the 21st-24th! Message us if you are interested!

Margaret and I are so happy to be back from the summer break and we are having the best time with our swimmers this week! Pictured below are Molly and Cash, they always work so hard and are such strong swimmers, I could go on forever about how proud I am of them!
It's going to be really hot out these next few weeks so please remember that when your kids are swimming, they are sweating! This, combined with the hot temperatures, means that it will be easier to become dehydrated so always bring a drink to the pool!

With the cold weather out this morning we are trying our best to try to be able to have lessons as well as keep everyone safe! We cannot have lessons when it is less than 70 degrees outside as it is too cold for both our teachers, as well as our students. We watch the weather closely and make the decision about the next lesson 30 minutes before that lesson starts. If you need more time for your decision please let us know!

With our first week of lessons starting on Monday I wanted to send out a reminder. You will get sent an email with all of the information a week before your lessons start. If you do not get that email please reach out to us so we can get you the information needed. In the email will be our address, a reminder of the time and price of your lessons, and a questionnaire. Please try to fill out the questionnaire before your lessons start, as it helps us plan lessons better, and make the most of each lesson. If you have booked more than one week you will get a new email for each week, you do not need to fill out a new questionnaire each week of lessons. We can’t wait to get started with this amazing summer of lessons!

Margaret and Lēla are hard at work finishing their semesters up as a junior in High school and a Junior in college at UCO, but trust and know we are both counting down the days until lessons begin! We still have spots available, sign up on our website below!
