Second year MAT student Taylor Behrendt received and accepted the invitation to participate in the free communications part of the 72nd SWATA Symposium & Billy Pickard Expo. She presented her research titled, “Concussions and Their Relation to Student-Athlete Recruiting Experience in the Transfer Portal”.

The 2nd year ACU MAT students presented their research at the 2026 SWATA Convention in Waco, TX. Hunter Mills also received a scholarship award. And not yet pictured, is Taylor Behrendt who was invited to the Free Communications part of the convention where she gave an oral presentation of her research. Congratulations to all of you, so proud of you all!!

The 2026 ACU MATP Cohort attended their mixer/orientation yesterday. They have officially began their journey in the program! Thank you to the faculty, preceptors and second year students who were there to welcome them! Go Wildcats!!

Emma and Jada, newly 2nd year ACU MATP students, are in their first week at the Hendrick Bone & Joint Orthopedic Clinic. They had the opportunity to practice applying casts in each other!

Seth Lee was honored today as an ACU University Scholar for the College Of Health and Behavioral Sciences. He is a student in the 3+2 MAT program and next week, he will complete his first year of the MAT program and graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Congratulations, Seth!

Laci Harvey and her preceptor took time from their busy schedules to chat about the immersion experience. Laci has gained confidence in her skills and work while in her immersion with Shelbi Steven’s, head AT at Hardin- Simmons University. Shelbi is also a local preceptor. Thank you Shelbi for pouring into our students and the ACU MATP.

Although you can’t see her face, this is Emily Castillo (blue sweatshirt). She is doing a knee examination on a high school athlete at her immersion site. Emily has gained essential experience working with her preceptor, Ashleigh Adams, who is also a local preceptor for the ACU MATP. Thank you both for your hospitality on my site visit! Second year ACU MATP student, Isaac Obodo, is on his immersive clinical experience at Lamar University. Thank you to his preceptor, Mallory, for helping Isaac gain experience as an athletic trainer for a Division I baseball team!
