Pedal pull is on. Starting 9:30. Show barn.
This whole idea that you can not bring in your own water to the city pool is outrageous. Its 95 degrees outside. How are we suspose to keep our children hydrated. With a cooler their water can stay cold. Don't even start in with that water fountain. If I have to I will bring a cooler and leave it in my truck and have my kids drink cold water on the bench out front if it is such an inconvenience for the rec center.
Texas has some beautiful places to set up camp and enjoy a nice meal. Here’s one way to enjoy this scenic fall weather: http://bit.ly/2Eal9ow Abilene Parks and Recreation
This weekend is Abilene Parks and Recreation dance recital! Don't forget a bouquet for your favorite dancer! Prices start at $5 at The Flower Box.
Thank you for all the activities you offer! Everyone who attended our reunion in Abilene had a great time. We want to give special recognition to Old Town (Wild Bill's lecture on gun safety before the shoot-out was absorbed by our young ones and the can-can girls were favorites of the oldest to the youngest), Mr. K's Farmhouse (my nephew's favorite part of the day), the Dickinson County Museum and the carousel (friendly and knowledgeable staff).

The benefits are endless!

2020 Dickinson County Survey

Please take a moment and fill out this important survey online: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DKCO2020

This is a Community Perception Survey for the BCBS Pathways to A Healthy Community Grant. It takes about three minutes to complete.

The Quality of Life Coalition recognizes that these are extraordinary times. We are so proud of the work done in Dickinson County by the BCBSKS Pathways to a Healthy Community Grant. Without the inspiration and energy from leaders in every town in our county, we would not have new Community Gardens, some wonderful walking paths, healthy choices in several restaurants and grocery stores, exercise equipment or water bottle filling stations for staff, students and guests at our school districts, water bottle filling stations in a tobacco free environment at Memorial Health System, and improved chances for physical activity at many of our employers.

We can’t “touch” some of this success right at the moment, but it will be there long after the Covid-19 threat passes.
Your response to this survey will help guide our leadership team as we apply for another round of this generous grant opportunity.
Please pass this on to your contacts, email lists, and all your family who live in Dickinson County! Make your voice count.

[04/21/20]   To all BASEBALL parents, players, and coaches,

Below is an email that we have received from the Dickinson County League Director to all community representatives.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
To all Community Representatives:

As a board we have struggled with what is the "right thing" to do in these times we currently find ourselves. We have waited as long as we can at this point and have decided that the COVID-19 virus will make it impossible logistically for us to have an organized baseball season this year. Without knowing if or when we will even be able to resume normal activities we acknowledged that scheduling, fielding umpires, having practices, getting uniforms, and everything else that goes into making the season successful would be too difficult.

The DKLL board is very committed to giving kids an opportunity to play baseball in the summer and learn America's Past Time as they make friends. Which is why we will continue to monitor the situation. If an opportunity for an end of season round robin tournament or even just a few games are possible, we want to leave that option open. Also, we are encouraging all of our communities to reach out to other communities to scrimmage or just let kids be kids, when the time is right. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly.

Thank you,

Jed Smith - DKLL President

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We would like to assure you, that Abilene Parks & Recreation will do everything we can to try to have baseball for our youth in Abilene, whether it is baseball clinics, scrimmages, pick up games, etc.

We will issue refunds to your account to use toward a registration in the future, unless otherwise requested.

Machine Pitch, Coach Pitch, T-Ball and Dickinson County League Softball are still continuing as of now.

As always, we will continue to keep you posted as new information is released.

We have our May Day basket ready to be filled with flowers. Have you made yours yet? Ours is made with a piece of paper and ribbon. You can create one from things you have around your house. Our challenge to you is to make a basket for May Day, May 1st. On May 1st you fill your basket with flowers (real or paper), candy, or a filling of your choice. Place your filled basket on someone's door handle to brighten their day and to celebrate May Day! Please take a picture of your May Day basket if you created one or if you have received one. We would love to see the baskets!

Abilene Baseball Club

Due to current restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Abilene Shootout home baseball tournament scheduled for Saturday May 9th, 2020 has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Although our tournament has been cancelled, we continue to have Hope of playing baseball this season.
