This past week, members of Empire Dojo had the incredible honor of attending the 2026 Shisenkan International Taikai in Barcelona, Spain, where participants trained extensively in Kenjutsu and Kotō-ryū alongside martial artists from around the world.

We are proud to announce that Jenna and Fredrick successfully tested for Kotō-ryū Kirigami, representing their first formal level of certification and recognition within the tradition. Their dedication, discipline, and hard work throughout their training journey have been outstanding, and this achievement was well earned.

We are also proud to announce that Sensei Luis Martinez successfully tested for Kotō-ryū Shoden, the next formal level of transmission within the system, and was additionally awarded the title of Bushi, a significant recognition within Shisenkan representing the level of “Martial Expert.”

These accomplishments represent far more than rank advancement. They reflect commitment, perseverance, character development, and the continued preservation of traditional martial arts.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our teachers, training partners, and everyone who continues to support the growth of our students and dojo. We look forward to bringing this knowledge and experience back to our students here at Empire Dojo.
