Our HS Boys Circuit Teams have put together an impressive first half of the season. We’re excited to continue to build and grow throughout the summer.

Zac "Zo" Odell – 2X All-American, Swarthmore, PhD, Temple University. Centennial conference defensive player of the year and one of the best coaches I've ever watched work with kids this week he boards a plane to Spain for a two year externship.

Behind every championship run, there are people doing the work you don’t always see.

Coach Marc Rodriguez has been that steady presence for so many Father Judge players — helping shape not just stronger athletes, but stronger young men. As the strength and conditioning coach at Father Judge, Marc’s impact has extended far beyond the weight room, playing a quiet but powerful role in the Crusaders’ back-to-back Philadelphia Catholic League championships after a 27-year drought.

Marc is also a Father Judge alum and the school’s first 1,000-point scorer — something he’d never lead with himself because that’s just who he is. Humble. Consistent. Invested in the next generation.

At Next Play, we believe development is bigger than basketball. It’s about relationships, mentorship, and the people who pour into players when no one is watching.

A One Shining Moment.

Frank Gilbert wasn’t always chosen first. He didn’t make a team in 3rd grade, started on the B team in 4th, and was cut twice in middle school. Years later, he’s starting on a top-five team in Southeastern PA — a star in his role, a fan favorite, and last night he climbed the ladder and cut down the nets after a perfect 10-0 season.

They used to call him Big Smooth. Now some call him Tank.
Proof that growth isn’t always loud… but it’s always earned.

To the parents and players who didn’t make the A team — let it fuel you. Keep showing up. Your moment will come.

The Return of Ryan Damon

Every season has a story that reminds us what the Next Play mentality really looks like. This winter, that story belongs to Ryan Damon.

After suffering an ACL tear in the spring following his sophomore year basketball season, Ryan faced the kind of adversity that tests more than just your body — it tests your patience, your mindset, and your belief in the work. He missed his entire junior year of competition. No games. No Friday-night lights. Just rehab, quiet gyms, and the daily grind of getting a little better when nobody is watching.
