Did you know that we are in the peak of turtle breeding season? Species like snapping turtles and box turtles are looking for mates and an area to lay their eggs. As they are in search of love, they are more likely to try to cross roads or encounter people. These beautiful creatures are not quick moving, so if you see them crossing a road, they may need a little help to safety.
Remember when moving turtles, please put them in the direction they were heading. If not, they will resume their journey and venture back into harms way. While moving turtles is important, please do not put your safety at risk.
If you notice an animal needs help within the park, please contact the Rangers at 610-270-0215 ext 3. If you encounter an issue at home, call Philadelphia Metro Wildlife Center before you try to take the animal to them. Place the animal in a dark box and do not provide it with food or water. For more information visit their website - https://www.phillywildlife.org/

Unplug and reconnect with nature during Screen-Free Week - May 4 through May 10! In our screen-heavy world, it can be hard to step away from devices, but taking time to disconnect can have great benefits. Reducing screen time can improve sleep quality, reduce stress, and encourage family bonding. Screen-Free Week was created for families to engage in outdoor activities. Take a hike, go birdwatching, or explore the park’s nature trails. Whether you're learning about local plants, practicing mindfulness, or just enjoying the fresh air, this week is a chance to rediscover the joy of being outside, free from screens and distractions.
