Tomorrow is the day! 🍂 Sunrise Mill officially opens to the public.

After more than 250 years of history and years of restoration, Montgomery County is welcoming the community to explore Sunrise Mill and celebrate its next chapter.

Join us for the Sunrise Mill Fall Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with:
- self-guided mill tours
- live music
- food trucks
- family-friendly activities
- exhibits and historic structures throughout the site

Visitors will be able to explore the restored 18th-century gristmill and sawmill complex, learn about the people and industries connected to the property, and experience the history of Sunrise Mill firsthand.

🚗 Parking: On-site parking is limited. Visitors are encouraged to use the free shuttle from the Upper Frederick Township Municipal Building, 3205 Big Rd, Zieglerville, PA 19492. Staff will be on-site to help direct visitors and assist with parking.

Lorimer Park and The Pennypack Trail at the Moredon Road Entrance will be closed on 8/10 and 8/11 from 7-3. Abington Township will be milling Moredon Road from Old Ford Road to Pine Road.

🟣Montgomery County has issued a Code Purple Air Quality Action Day for Friday, July 17. All County parks and trails will be closed to the public.

A Code Purple Air Quality Action Day means air quality is VERY UNHEALTHY for everyone due to elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from wildfire smoke. All persons should limit or avoid outdoor activities. Pets and other animals should be kept indoors to the extent possible.

📣Guidance on Limiting Exposure

📌Everyone: Limit outdoor physical activity and go indoors to cleaner air if experiencing symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath.

📌Sensitive Groups: Individuals with chronic conditions such as heart and lung disease, older adults, children and teenagers, pregnant women, and people with limited ability to reduce exposure to outdoor air should avoid all physical activity outdoors

📌Keep indoor air safe by closing windows. If you have air conditioning and your system allows it, consider using the indoor recirculating function and/or installing a high efficiency filter. If you do not have air conditioning, staying inside with windows closed may be dangerous in hot weather. If you are hot, go someplace with air conditioning. 📌Be aware that an N95 mask can provide some protection; however, surgical and cloth masks will not provide protection due to the size of the pollution particles.

If you experience severe shortness of breath or chest tightness, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

Looking for a fun outdoor activity? Join the Abington Bird Town Walk with Liberty Bird Alliance, Tuesday, July 21, 8am-10am. Bring binoculars and wear good walking shoes. Meet in the Moredon Road parking lot, 183 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, between Old Ford Road and Pine Road, entrance is on the south side of the road. No registration is required.
