Boston Tae Kwon Do Academy

Officer Michael Chesna was a student at BTKD back in the early 90's along with his younger brother, Eric. This morning Michael lost his life in the line of duty as a Weymouth police officer. My fondest memory of Michael is seeing him walk into BTKD with his infectious smile always beaming on his face. Prayers to the entire Chesna family.
18 years ago I walked into a Tae Kwon Do school with little self confidence and not a lot of knowledge of the sport, but the willingness to learn and give it my all. I was paired up (a lot) with a man who was patient, kind & took his time explaining things to me when I didn't understand them ; we slowly got to know one another and before I knew it I had found my soulmate. On the anniversary of our first "official" date I would like to thank GrandMaster Joseph Pina for pairing us up together, if it was intentional or not, I owe you !!! I have a WONDERFUL life & I LOVE Tae Kwon Do SOOO much !!! #martialartsforlife 🇰🇷🙏🏻❤️💙💛💚

[09/04/20]   Good Morning Team,
We have one quick announcement. We will be closed Monday, September 7th, for Labor Day. We will be reopening Tuesday, September 8th for classes. We hope that all of you are staying safe and healthy during this pandemic. Please let us know if you have any questions.
-BTKD Staff

[07/06/20]   Good Morning Team,
Just as a reminder, yes we will be having classes now that will be including adults starting Tuesday. However, we are still going to be practicing social distancing. Please wear a mask and we will continue to keep everyone 6 feet apart with no physical contact. We will be continuing to monitor the news to keep up with all the social distancing guidelines. If classes get to big we will change the times and do what is necessary to accommodate. If you have any questions, or concerns, please let us know!
-BTKD Staff

[07/05/20]   Good Evening Team,
We will be reopening tomorrow for classes in school and also on Zoom. Starting tomorrow adults students will be able to come as well. Adults and Teens will be combined Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM. If you have any questions, let us know!
-BTKD Staff

[06/29/20]   Good Afternoon Team,

Belts are now in. If you have been going into class or taking online classes and have been there during testing week, which is still going on this week for those who missed it, you can stop by the school and pick up your student's belts. Belt exam sheets are available to fill out at the school. Remember that belt exams are $20 dollars. Hope to see everyone soon!

-BTKD Staff

[06/29/20]   Good Afternoon Team,

We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! We have one announcement for this week. We will be open this week Monday through Wednesday for classes in school and on Zoom. We would love for you to join us in person if possible. Remember there are two ways to do this. Anyone that comes to the school should be able to get into class because of how light it has been. However, as things start to pick up, if we still have restrictions on size, reserving classes is the safest way to guarantee a spot. If we have openings in class and you have not reserved it we will definitely allow you to come, but reservations are easiest.

Our last announcement is that we will be closed from Thursday through Saturday this week, in observance of July 4th. We will be reopening next Monday. Let us know if you have any questions! We hope to see you all sometime this week before we close whether it is online or at the school!

Hey Team, our new shirts just came in! We have shirts in all sizes! Let us know if interested! They are $15! We hope to see some of you in class, and on Zoom!
-BTKD Staff

Hey Team,

Teens Class is now set to be booked on the Boston Tae Kwon Do website. Remember to go to and hit the book appointment and choose the class you want to go to. The same guidelines apply for Teens as the other classes. Please wear a mask, try to bring your own water and come in uniform because the locker rooms will be closed. Please let us know if you have any questions.

-BTKD Staff

[06/15/20]   Good Afternoon Team,

Remember that today we will be open for classes for a limited amount of students per class! We hope to see some of you there. Remember to go to and click on book appointment. Make sure to reserve for the right class time when reserving. Also, remember that masks must be worn to class and that students should have their uniforms on, because the locker rooms will not be available. Students, please go in through the front door, and parents, please pick up students at the back entrance. At this time, we are not allowing anyone in the waiting areas. We are allowed only 12 people in the school at this point so we can only have 10 students per class. If your class has not started yet, please wait for your class time before coming in so that we will not have more than 12 people in the building at a time. If you have not reserved classes, and you show up, there may not be space for you, so we ask that everyone reserve their class before showing up to avoid any issues. We hope to see everyone there! Please help spread this by telling other parents of students about this if they do not have Facebook. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Good Morning Team,

We have a huge announcement to make about class openings. This will be a longer post, but it will have a lot of information so we ask that you read the whole thing and let us know if there are any questions. Effective Monday, June 15th, we will be opening for students ages 18 and under per Governor Baker's updated Phase 2 plans. Online Zoom classes will continue as usual for students that are unable to attend class and for adult classes. We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We have had a professional cleaner complete the cleaning of the school, and will continue to do so on a regular basis as well as the cleaning of the equipment in between classes. Hand sanitizer units have been installed on the walls at the front and back of the building and is available for all students as well as hand washing. For the safety of our students and staff, and to keep to the guidelines, we ask that students come in their full uniforms as the changing rooms will not be available. Masks are to be worn at all times as of now! At this current time, parents and students are not allowed to wait in the waiting area or on the benches. We ask that students are dropped off at the front and picked up at the back entrance. This is to avoid students from coming into contact with other students that are coming in for classes. To keep with the guidelines of social distancing and safety, we can only have 10 people in the building at a time, including teachers. At this time, we can only allow 8 students per class, with two teachers. This will change as we monitor the news and events that are taking place. We are currently looking into software and a way for parents to reserve classes for their students. This will help avoid issues of too many students showing up for classes that are full. We are currently working on a way to have everyone book classes online and we will let you know more soon. Most likely it will be through the school website,, so we ask that you check the website for booking classes. We will know more and will announce it soon. If you have any questions, please let us know through the comments, or by messaging the school or teachers directly. Stay safe and we hope to see everyone soon!

[05/24/20]   Hey Team,

We hope that all of you are doing well and staying safe during this season. It has been amazing having online Zoom Classes with everyone that has been joining them! Just a couple reminders: Monday, May 25th, we will be closed for classes for Memorial Day. We will reopen for Zoom Classes on Tuesday, May 26th. Also remember that when logging into Zoom, try to join the classroom no earlier than 5-8 minutes before the your class starts. This will minimize the amount of distractions for the current class that is taking place. Let us know if you have any questions. We will see you all in Zoom Classes!

-BTKD Staff

[04/27/20]   Hey Team,

We have heard that some people can't login to the Zoom Classes. If you have any issues doing this; try these steps:

(Make sure that your Zoom App on your phone or computer is up to date)

Double check the meeting room ID and Password/ Home internet Connection.

If that does not work, try using a different device to see if maybe the current device is not working correctly

If that does not work, try using the old password

If none of these work, try to contact the teacher teaching that day, via Facebook or other means, or if you are unsure of that, please give us a call at the Tae Kwon Do School and we can try to assist you.

Please share this post via text or email to others that do not have access to Facebook. I will leave the teaching schedule and the School phone number below.

[04/20/20]   Hey Everyone we will be having online classes today at the normal times with Mr. Monteiro. We hope to see you all there!

[04/13/20]   Good Afternoon Team,
We have changed the password for this week's zoom lessons. It is what we have talked about in each group. If you have any questions, please let us know in the group and not in public if possible. We have heard of some issues trying to get in. If you have issues, try it on another device and if it still does not work it could just be the weather with all of the wind which could cause wifi or connection issues for today's classes. ALSO, please try the old password as well just to make sure. We will work on the new password stuff and hopefully it will be all set for tomorrow. We do have confirmation that some people got in with the new password. We do apologize for any issues and please let us know if we can help you through getting connected! Thanks! Stay Safe!

[04/05/20]   Hey Team,
This is going to be an important announcement! We will no longer be having graduation at the school. We will do it online on Zoom! We are doing stripe testing this week through zoom. Information on how to get into class is in the groups. We will be offering times this week where parents can come and do the belt exam sheets and pick up their children's belts. Students, please don't wear your belts until graduation. We will then have a date set on probably a saturday to have the online graduation. More information to come!Zoom classes were amazing yesterday! It was awesome being able to see everyone after so long! Remember classes will be at it's normal times on Zoom now. A few things to keep in mind. You need to have both the room ID and the Password which is posted in the different group classes. When trying to join, there is a waiting room. We will accept you a minute or two before class begins. If we don't, please don't leave the room, we are just finishing the class before. Please wear your full uniforms. And last but not least, please share the information to families that you know from class that may not be connected through facebook so that we can have bigger classes and target our students who don't have Facebook. We will also be sending out as many messages as we can on our end but we can always use the help! Thank you for all who are with us through this trying and difficult time! We appreciate you all! Stay safe and active and we will see you all in class in Zoom tomorrow!
-BTKD Staff

[04/03/20]   Hey Team,
We will be posting the Zoom Information for the new online classes in just a few moments in each of the class groups. They are password protected so that not anyone can join. Just a few last minute details. Remember to wear your full uniform. Everyone that joins the classes will be muted as they come in so that the other things going on will not affect the class. There will be time for questions and talking at the end of the classes. Remember to use a device that has a camera so that we can see everyone who is taking class. The password will be changing weekly by the end of the week. Please share the zoom information with other parents and students in the school if they are not connected by Facebook. Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you all tomorrow in our first Zoom classes!

We hope that you are all doing well and that you all are safe. Remember to stay active, whether there is class or not. There is no class today, but let's see who can post a photo or video in the comments or in the class groups of you doing a Tae Kwon Do Technique or maybe a form, or anything that you would like! Also, remember to keep your mind sharp by doing something like reading. Remember to always keep those hands clean, wash them with soap and hot water for 20 seconds, and also to avoid touching your face, nose, eyes, and mouth with dirty hands. Get good nights rest to keep your immunity up, and also remember to listen to your parents because they care for you and wants what is best for you!
