Diane is a devoted teacher who conveys a sense of reciprocal responsibility between animal and rider. This is rooted in her "natural horsemanship" practice, where sensitivity toward each horse is a critical part of learning to ride. Similarly, each student receives highly focused individual attention and constant support as they grow into a deeper understanding of the privileges and responsibilities of horsemanship. This is bolstered by the beauty of the natural environment surrounding her farm, with views of adjacent farm fields and expensive skies. In a word: wonderful.

Thank goodness horses can still have play dates 🤠

Good morning Saturday!!!

Today’s accomplishments! Well some of them, paddocks mucked and dragged ( Billy’s and Buddy’s needed dragging !) Today's 3 horses , Genny , Java and Coco. My goal this week is to desensitize all to clippers ! Had time to Practice with Coco and Java today. They were great . We don’t always clip as we don’t need to for performance appearances . But a good skill! I certainly need more practice!!

Going through old pictures this morning!! “Bucky” is on the left, “Billy “ on the right. My brother Danny is holding “Bucky” as I was not the rider at the time. ( yes, that is me without a helmet!!!). The resemblance is amazing. “Bucky “ was given to my brothers for Christmas. He had been a trail horse at Mohonk and our dear family friend Ned Milliken gave him to us for Christmas. Ned walked “Bucky “ up the farm side walk with a big Oak Tag sign that said “MERRY CHRISTMAS”!! Brother David and I had the German Measles and couldn’t go out to see him!! No wonder I have such a connection with “ Billy”, who has been in our lesson program for. 14 years.

Nice way to start the day! So grateful to have the horses and the farm at this time!

My idea of grooming this shedding boy, think he is humoring me with the additional “headdress “!

During this challenging time , feels like snow days getting things done , like sorting through piles of pictures, found this great one ! Lots of memories, thinking maybe 2006? Hope all are well and safe 🐴!

Fun Sip and Paint at the Stone House Tavern Last night!! Certainly a variety of talents ! Such fun

Cantering Cooks have entered Mohonk Mtn House Gingerbread House competition for 3 years. They received hand blown horses ridden by Gingerbreadmen made by talented glass blower Dylan Karle!!! Dylan created a mount for each of the 5 cooks. Thank you for these beautiful pieces from Brooke Long, Lily Bednarz, Gunnar Bednarz, Merryn Arms and Harriet Seubert.

The Cantering Cooks entered the Gingerbread competition at Mohonk Mtn House for the 3rd year in a row. The theme this year was “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer”. The cantering cooks is now 5 strong. Four of them ride at our farm, Lily and Gunnar Bednarz, Merryn Arms, (Team Captain) Brooke Long and Harriet Seubert. They were so excited and honored to have Theresa Karle sponsor them again this year. Theresa hosted the team in her home overseeing the production ,( candy consumption), organizing work times and deadlines. Another wonderful experience for all involved.
