Yury Klimovitsky founded PTI in 2003 after 20 years in physical education and sports training. He started his career at the Olympic Training School in Ukraine as the Head Track and Field Coach after spending time as a member of the Ukrainian National Track and Field Team. In the US he has trained people seeking improvements in general health and fitness to world class competitive athletes.

Training at PTI is based on a scientific European fitness model. PTI trainers create individual programs by starting with focused analysis of your performance, whether it be in a competitive sport or in daily living. We will then assist you in developing realistic performance goals based on our extensive experience with a range of ages and capabilities. By comparing your baseline performance with your performance goals, PTI trainers determine the critical muscles that need to be strengthened and conditioned to allow you to reach the next step in progress toward your performance goals.

[05/14/19]   Championship meets for track & field are underway, and we already have some champions to congratulate! Claire Stoddard (sophomore, Bromfield) won the Class C Long Jump (17'1.5" meet record) and 400m hurdles (68.97), and Nicolette D'Amico (junior, Oakmont) won the Class B high jump (5'0") at the District E Championships last weekend. [02/16/19]   What a day it was for Acton-Boxborough's Adam Yang at the D-I Indoor Track & Field Championship! Adam set 2 meet records by winning the long jump (24'2") and the 55m hurdles (7.38), as well as earning another 1st place as part of the winning 4x200m relay team (1:30.59). Hard work pays off, great job!

[02/16/19]   The 2018 tennis rankings are in! A big congrats to Dorcas and Ken Miller!
Dorcas ended up ranked #2 in W75 singles, individual doubles and team doubles at the National level. In NE, she ended up ranked #1 in W60 singles.
Ken ranked #4 in M70 doubles and #5 in M75 doubles in NE.

This was a significant improvement on her 22nd place finish last year! We also want to congratulate her and Fencing Singapore on making history by capturing the SILVER MEDAL in U20 Women’s Foil! [03/12/18]   Congratulations to PTI Alum Katilyn Leonard (Littleton HS) and the Emory University Women's 4x400 on achieving All-American status with their runner up finish at the NCAA DIII Championships this past weekend! They ran a Program Record of 3:48.45 and Kaitlyn split a lifetime best of 57.15 on the third leg! CONGRATULATIONS!

Jackie has been at PTI for 4 years going on 5. She came in when she was just 9 looking to supplement her figure skating with speed/agility and injury preventive training. She approaches every workout with a huge smile 😊 and a great attitude. Judging by her form and technique you wouldn’t believe how old she is. At such an young age to be able to handle constructive feedback is fantastic and well beyond kids her age. We are lucky to have a great kid with an excellent driven attitude at our facility.

GlobeWest: Noteworthy performances - The Boston Globe

Congratulations to Brown University Senior Megan Ratcliffe on her second place finish in the 5000m at HEPS! Her 16:27.39 is the 4th fastest mark in program history and a PR by almost 30 seconds! Congrats Meg! Natick’s Joseph Carty led Bridgewater State men’s basketball (18-9) to the MASCAC championship Feb. 24 with 16 points in a 77-72 win over Fitchburg State.

We would love to congratulate our very own Aimee Buchanan for competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Aimee’s journey at PTI goes back 4 years which involved being an athlete and trainer. After years of dedication she received an amazing opportunity to relocate to Texas to train with the Israel figure skating team. Aimee’s goal from the start of her 4 years here at PTI has been to compete at the biggest stage and she accomplished her dream. We are very proud of you Aimee!

#2 in the world with a sprained ankle? No problem. Despite a slight setback she was able to effectively adapt her program and go on to improve to #2 in the World Junior Rankings and #1 in Asia! A University of California study concluded that injury rates in youth athletes increased during games that followed a night of sleep fewer that 6 hours.¹ Another study looking at injury rates in high school athletes found that sleep hours was the strongest predictor of injuries, even more so than the hours of practice.

Here are a few of my favorite core exercises to do before stuffing my face.

V-UPS: Focus on keeping a flat back while reaching for your toes. Keeping your upper body and lower body in synch. Perform: 25 Reps for 1 set.

In and outs: Extend your body as far as possible while keeping your shoulder blades off the ground. Perform: 25 Reps for 1 set.

Scissors: focus on keeping your low back pressed against the ground, keeping tummy tight and rib cage down. Now with straight legs move in scissor motion. Perform 30 total for 1 set.

Ankle sprains are the most common injury in sports and physical activity. It is estimated that about 25% of all injuries across sports are ankle related. There is strong evidence that supports the reoccurrence re-spraining your ankle within the first year. There is also a strong amount of evidence that supports the correlation of poor balance to ankle sprains.

Here are a few exercises I like to perform from time to time to reassure my ankle strength and stability remains strong for my on field performance ⚽️

Sprint, Run, walk, jump or squat. Your hips are doing majority of the work. The hips are the body’s center of gravity and the foundation for the spine and upper body. Therefore, where the hips go, the rest of the body will follow.Yet, many people lose the ability to perform these movements, caused by modern living, like sitting at a desk all day, which is why Hip and Glute Activation Exercises are essential in an effective ‘Prehab program’

As many of our clients/athletes have repeatedly heard us say, our job is too create a foundation that balances our body well from Font to Back, Right to Left. By creating a well balanced body we can greatly reduce the chances of injury.

The mobility and strength of your hip joints is often a major player in the cause of back pain. So if you are either an athlete looking to gain that extra advantage on the field or the 9-5 desk jockey with low back pain that’s looking for relief, doing a few of these simple mobility drills will get the job done.
