Rapid Wheelmen Time Trials

We will be having Time Trials again this year! As in past years, the course and day of the week
are the same:
WHERE: Ada Park. NE corner of Buttrick and Grand River. We meet at the most eastern parking lot off Grand River.
WHEN: Every Monday from May 1 to August 28. No ride on Memorial Day or July 3rd.
** Registration opens at 5:30 pm and closes at 6:15 pm. First rider off at 6:30:30 pm

Pre—registration is highly encouraged.

WHAT: A 15 mile time trial. You race against the clock. Great training for triathletes.
COST: Free to Rapid Wheelmen members ($35 a year for entire family)
NEW for 2023: Season long Points contest has changed. Now the better you finish, the more points you’ll accumulate. No minimum number of rides necessary. All rides count. Totals up-date as soon as you finish. Everyone will know exactly where they stand each week.

11 through 20 get one point. No points for not placing in top 20. So—extra incentive for placingin Top 10 with one bonus point for top 3.

It is that time of year again! Ada Time Trials 2022! Emerging from the pandemic even better than before! May 2nd Registration starts 5:30PM, and first riders is off at 6:30PM

*New Updates*

We are incorporating the Webscorer Web/App based system (link below) for pre-registration, registration, starting, timing, finish, and results communication. The system will push automatic results individually and in categories, while also tabulating the points contests in ALL categories automatically soon after the last rider finishes. No more waiting 2 days for the results!!

If you want to pre-register for the entire season ahead of time for all known dates you can participate, click on this link for the SERIES registration:

Using the SERIES registration saves you time for entering many events as you only need to enter your profile information once. Pick all dates you think you may be able to come.

B. If you prefer to pre-register for each date individually as the Summer progresses, follow this procedure:
1. Go to: https://www.webscorer.com/
2. Click on "Find Races"
3. Click on "Find Registrations"
4. On the "Search events by" drop down list, choose "Event Name"
5. In the box below, enter "Rapid Wheelmen"

Then update the search and you should see the Series registration plus each individual event. Pick the appropriate date by 4:00 pm the day of the event to pre-register. After 4:00pm, you will need to register on site at Ada Park. We will take day-of registrations on site manually from 5:30 to 6:15 if you cannot pre-register, just like before. Pre-registration is optional, but my prefered method so we have less to do on day-of.

Two other exciting announcements:
** We will have our regular volunteers all back this year, including a holder**
** We have added 2 new categories - Men 65+ and Women 65+

We are watching the weather pattern closely today. Right now we have intermittent rain showers, some with possible thunderstorms camping out over Grand Rapids for most of the afternoon.

By 4:00 pm we'll make a judgement call to continue the time trial or cancel it. Check this page and the Yahoogroup for verification.

However, the end of season celebration and awards at Gravel Bottom Brewery in Ada at 7:30 to 9:00 pm will go on-- rain or shine! They have an indoor area just large enough for all of us.

More at 4:00 pm - we'll post a Go or NoGo then for the Time Trial itself.

Time Trial Riders and Volunteers,

We'll have our very last time trial of 2019 tonight in Ada. Members can ride for free, which also then gains you entry to our year end celebration event at Gravel Bottom Brewery in Ada. Registration for the time trials is from 5:30 to 6:15, the festivities at Gravel Bottom Brewery start as soon as you get there, about 7:15. Pizza and beverages are free! We'll be recognizing our award recipients to much fanfare. A night you won't want to miss. No RSVP required.

Liquid refreshments include everything on tap, as well as a line of soda drinks Gravel Bottom Brewery can supply.

Gravel Bottom Brewery has a wonderful patio area for our use, and indoor facilities will be available in case of inclement weather.
