Annapolis Pony Club had a fabulous time at Dressage Rally Waredaca this year. It was a scramble team paired up with the awesome Ella from Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club. The weather was very challenging in the morning with cold temps, wind, and rain. However, by the afternoon the sun came out. Caroline, Ariel, Prestley, and Ella all put in solid dressage tests with wonderful comments from the judges. Savannah was their incredible stable manager who piloted the team to FIRST place in Stable Management and SEVENTH overall out of 15 Junior Teams. Sammie coached the APC kids before their tests with her positive encouragement and smile.
We are beyond proud of how this team came together, supported each other, and had an incredible day for the memory books. Go Pony Club!

We would like to extend a big thank you to Sam Cecil, an H-A rated member of St. Margaret's Pony Club, for leading our learning series, Veterinary Night, in collaboration with the SMPC and APC. Sam provided engaging hands-on props that helped our pony club members visualize and understand the functions of bones, tendons, ligaments, and fascia in our equine partners.
During the session, Sam covered a range of topics, from dental and eye issues to the connection of small vertebrae in the dock. We examined arthritic and fused joints and discussed the fusion process in detail. Sam also explained the intricate structure of the hoof bone and how conformation issues can impact the legs and hooves.
It was a well-attended and educational evening for our pony club members, and we look forward to having Sam back to teach us more!
We would also like to express our gratitude to Janice Binkley at Dovecote Equestrian, an A-rated alum of the Annapolis Pony Club, for graciously organizing, and hosting our 2025 Summer Learning Series.

Annapolis Pony Club A-rated alum Janice Binkley hosted another enjoyable summer learning session. APC members Arianna, Ashley, Shannon, and Caroline, along with St. Margaret PC members Sam and Leah, gathered for Trivia Night last week. We explored equine topics from around the world, covering everything from local vegetation hazards to Roman chariot horse tack. There were so many interesting subjects that even our unofficial mascot, Mr. Oats, couldn’t handle any more trivia facts or data!
Next up is Veterinary Night.

APC summer programming is in full swing!
APC alum Janice Binkley at Dovecote Equestrian started us off with an informative clinic on horse conformation. Janice explained that conformation refers to the shape and structure of a horse, emphasizing the importance of balanced proportions, correct angles, and adequate muscling for the horse's intended use. She presented ten horses of varying sizes, ages, breeds, and current jobs to illustrate and discuss these differences.
Our second summer clinic was hosted by APC alum Valerie Pride at Blue Clover Eventing. During this bandaging clinic, Valerie emphasized horse and human safety, practicality, and proper techniques for leg and tail wraps. The session was hands-on, with Valerie guiding each participant through various wrapping methods and offering valuable expert tips and assistance.
We are grateful to our talented and accomplished APC alumni for their generosity in sharing their time and expertise. Thank you, Janice and Valerie!
