With 75% of all health care costs going to the treatment of chronic disease we all need guidance, planning, accountability, support and motivation to achieve a more balanced healthy lifestyle. The CDC reports that many chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer and metabolic syndrome can be prevented or managed by eating a healthier diet, increasing physical activity, managing stress and changing behaviors. We will work on goal setting, self monitoring, nutritional & calorie expenditure needs, independent exercise programming, belief systems, setting up positive environments, motivation & adherence. REBOOT VISION STATEMENT
I believe that we are all athletes no matter our fitness level. I believe that deep down we all have a sense of adventure and desire to be healthy and fit. I envision creating a sense of community among my students. I believe in providing skills, tools and guidance to my students so they can continue to grow and try new challenges. I will bring these beliefs to life by listening, having patience, showing compassion, pushing my students when they need pushing, being honest and accountable. I envision my passion and enthusiasm for living a healthy, active, and meaningful life to motivate and positively affect my student’s lives not for the short term but for the rest of their lives.

As we continue to take a deep dive on improving your movement quality let’s take a look at the importance of stability & control in your movement.
Stability is your body’s ability to maintain balance & resist force.
Control is the ability to guide your body through full range of motion without losing stability.
Together they protect your joints for athletic performance & activities of daily living.
We train in various ways to train this piece of movement through static holds like plank, through dynamic movement like lunges & through functional training with load/weights.
Be present during your training to get the most out of it.

Next on our movement quality check in is the push up.
Are you getting full range of motion?
Ae you keeping a straight line from head to toe?
Are you leading with your chest?
Slow the motion down & see where you are limiting your movement & form on this exercise.

While the wardrobe may be a lot lighter today & not everyone in the picture was out there today, the road warriors know that…
Running with a team offers a sense of purpose, provides a trusted community, & regular consistent movement & wholesome food are the ticket for a good life.
I’m not kidding it’s been shown, we can all run alone & workout alone but we benefit so much more when we connect with others, find your tribe or join ours!

Friday Farmers Market finds: a little less this week as I still hadn’t quite finished up last week’s bounty.
More arugula so I picked up the olive oil infused with blood oranges which make a great topping for the arugula.
And swapped out the zucchini blossoms for the edible flowers which are so fun on salads this time of year.
Lastly excited about the snap peas a complex carb with fiber & protein 💪🏻.
Salad season is on!

Our recipe of the month is this chickpea Brussels sprouts salad.
I love this nutrition powerhouse & a great lunch with fiber, protein & immune function support.
Chickpeas are high in protein, rich in fiber & good for blood sugar control.
Brussels sprouts are good for our bones, gut health, immunity & reducing inflammation.
Easy to make, tasty & provides good energy for your day.

Remember nobody comes back from their workout unhappy, you might be sore, you might be tired, you might be hungry…
BUT never unhappy, the next time you want to skip, think again because that one workout may not change your life but it will change your day!

This month we are looking at improving our movement quality & one way is to check our form on common exercises we do.
This week we looked at squats, lunges & our running form.
Today let’s just focus on those lunges, cue bend both knees!

Cheers to Maria on winning our Forest Bathing bingo!
She rocked it! My clients know how much I believe in time outdoors. I challenge them all year round to be active outside.
A landmark study of nearly 20,000 subjects found that when people spent at least 120 minutes in nature a week, they reported significantly higher levels of health and well-being.
Opt outside & love to all those you engaged in the challenge last month, keep it up!

It’s Farmers Market season, & today was the 1st market of the season. So excited 😆
Today there were 2 new vendors I checked out:
1. New honey vendor straight from
Schaumburg can’t get honey any better than this.
2. A fresh pasta vendor, I’m exited to try this beet pasta.
While not the plan I picked up some good items for the beet pasta, excited to make this dish…black garlic, arugula, & either the asparagus or the shiitake mushrooms will go in the dish.
And always love the strawberries 🍓 this time of year.
If you never go to the Farmers market, look to make at least one visit this Summer you won’t be disappointed!
