HJA Cometition Team

Here’s a short message from the Competition Team to the HJA Ohana!

Photos from Hawaii Judo Academy's post 06/18/2021

HJA’s competition team has arrived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the 2021 Junior Olympic National Championships.

Aloha HJA Ohana,⁣⁣
First of all, we would like to thank you all for being a part of the HJA Family. It’s the members that truly make HJA a special place to train. With that being said, your well being and safety is our utmost priority. ⁣⁣
As you all know, COVID-19 has been spreading throughout the islands. We as instructors constantly preach the ideals of selflessness, obedience to authority, social responsibility, and caring for others. It is only right that we lead by example; the decision to heed the governments advice and stop business for a couple of weeks was extremely difficult. We pride ourselves in providing our members with the best instruction and training no matter what the circumstances may be. However, once the safety and well-being of our members are jeopardized, we have no other option but to close the gym for a few weeks and see how this pandemic unfolds. Starting tomorrow Friday, March 20th, ALL classes will be postponed and tentatively scheduled to resume on Friday, April 3rd. Should we have to extend the closure, all memberships/ tuition payments scheduled for April 5th will be put on hold until we are able to safely resume classes. ⁣⁣
The trials and tribulations that we overcome in Judo, BJJ, and Wrestling day in and day out are the closest equivalent to the struggles that everyday life presents. COVID-19 is a real life test for all of humanity and we as grapplers are bread to overcome the toughest of situations. The destruction COVID-19 will leave behind will be felt for months to come. However through unwavering mental fortitude that grappling has taught us, along with teamwork and a mindfulness of ones social obligation we will defeat COVID-19. ⁣⁣
The entire HJA staff is truly grateful for your cooperation and understanding during these difficult times. We sincerely appreciate your unwavering support for the Academy. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or (808)347-9708. ⁣⁣
With great appreciation, ⁣⁣
HJA staff
