Couchton Firefighter training was held last night, covering the use of extrication tools, with an emphasis on handling and control techniques. Thank you to all attending members.

Tonight, we recognized two outstanding members who completed their 48-hour IFSAC Fire Officer I certification. This comprehensive course prepares firefighters at the company level for strategic decision-making, human resources management, and operational oversight. Congratulations to Captain Bailey and Firefighter Jordan.

Tonight, Couchton personnel received training on our newly launched Rehab Unit, which offers rehabilitation services to our firefighters, prioritizing their safety. Our department is also available to support other departments upon request. This enhancement benefits our members and the fire service in Aiken County. Rehab 12 is now in service and ready to respond.

This past Tuesday evening, Couchton Fire & Rescue conducted a training exercise focused on rural water supply operations. The training session acquainted our personnel with dump tank operations, drafting procedures, and equipment utilization for various scenarios. We appreciate the participation of our members in this training initiative.

We would like to recognize two of our members who have achieved their IFSAC Hazardous Material Operations Qualification and Emergency Medical Responder certificate. Congratulations to Firefighter Blackmer and EMR Goff.

We are honored to announce that our department has been awarded a VSAFE grant, along with multiple other departments across the State of SC. This grant award will enable us to acquire a skid unit for our ATV unit, allowing us to extinguish brush fires in areas inaccessible to larger apparatus and transport patients from wooded areas if necessary. Moreover, we will purchase new hose and rehabilitation equipment for our department. We appreciate receiving this grant, which will enhance our ability to protect our personnel and the community.
