Today, we’re celebrating Madelyn Morin and are so grateful to have her as part of our BDS family!

Ms. Madelyn grew up dancing in the Augusta area and has extensive training and experience in ballet, including Cecchetti training and years of performing in ballet productions. She brings her deep knowledge and love of ballet to BDS, helping dancers of all ages build strong ballet technique, improve their artistry, and develop confidence in their performance skills.

We’re incredibly thankful for everything Ms. Madelyn pours into our dancers and for the passion she brings to every ballet class. Help us wish her a very happy birthday! 🎂

NEW DANCE CLASSES STARTING THIS OCTOBER! ⭐

Looking for a fun first dance class for your little one? Burns Dance Studio is opening two NEW classes for young dancers beginning Wednesday, October 7! No previous dance experience is needed.

⭐ STARS | Ages 3–5
Tap • Ballet • Acro
Wednesdays | 5:30–6:15 PM

🩰 INTRO TO BALLET | Ages 5–7
Wednesdays | 4:45–5:30 PM

Both classes will be taught by Mrs. Stephanie Safford, an experienced dance educator and choreographer with more than 15 years of experience working with young dancers. Mrs. Stephanie focuses on helping children build confidence, learn strong dance foundations, and develop a love of dance. She also currently serves as President-Elect of the South Carolina Dance Association.

We’re excited to kick off a new monthly feature recognizing some of the amazing dancers who make Burns Dance Studio so special!

Congratulations to our August Student of the Month, Katherine Hayes! ❤️🖤

Katherine spends her week at BDS in Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Contemporary classes, along with both our Hip Hop and Musical Theater Squads.

We are so proud of how Katherine has leveled up so far this season! She comes to class ready to work, continues to grow as a dancer, and brings a great attitude along the way.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ms. Tatum! 🎉

Help us wish a very Happy Birthday to our Assistant Director and dance instructor, Ms. Tatum! ❤️🖤

A lifelong member of the BDS Family, Tatum grew up dancing at Burns from age 3 through 18 and is now in her fourth year on staff. She teaches STARS and SUPERSTARS, Jazz, Musical Theater, Acro, and Hip Hop, along with our Musical Theater and Hip Hop Squads.

Tatum is also an award-winning choreographer, creating routines for our Squads, Minis, and Company dancers. She was part of the choreography team behind this summer’s National Championship Company routine, “A Cover Is Not the Book!” 🏆

From growing up on the dance floor at Burns to now helping lead, teach, and choreograph for the next generation of BDS dancers, Tatum brings so much energy and creativity to our studio.

What an incredible weekend with UNBOUND dance company! ❤️🖤

Many of our BDS Company dancers kicked off the 2026–2027 convention and competition season with two full days of training at the Unbound Summer Intensive in Columbia! Our dancers had the opportunity to learn from an incredible faculty, explore different styles, and continue growing and challenging themselves.

A special congratulations to three of our dancers who were recognized with scholarships during the intensive!

⭐ Everly Morris | Full Unbound Intensive Scholarship
⭐ Barrett Safford | One-Day Unbound Intensive Scholarship

The weekend also included Afterlight, an incredible dance concert presented by Unbound Dance Company on Friday and Saturday nights. The performances were filled with incredible talent, artistry, and emotion, and we were especially proud to see some familiar BDS faces take the stage! BDS instructors Michael McManus, Jordan Rice, and Sophie Hunsicker performed alongside BDS alum Hayden Horton. ❤️

What a special opportunity for our dancers to spend their days training and also see their own teachers and a BDS alum take the stage as performers and artists themselves.

We’re so proud of our dancers for continuing to learn and grow, and of our instructors and alum for continuing to inspire both onstage and in the studio.

✨ Adult Musical Theater at Burns! ✨

Ready for a little musical theater fun? Join our Assistant Director and dance instructor, Miss Tatum, for a special Adult Musical Theater drop-in class at BDS!

Open to ages 16 and up, join us Saturday, September 19 from 10:00–11:30 AM for a morning of dancing, performing, and plenty of musical theater fun!

Tatum brings so much creativity and energy to BDS and was part of the choreography team behind our National Championship Company routine, A Cover Is Not the Book, this summer. We’re excited for our older and adult dancers to have the opportunity to learn from her, too!

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Caroline! 🎉❤️

From growing up dancing at Burns to now celebrating her 8th year teaching at BDS, Mrs. Caroline has been part of the Burns family for so many years!

She shares her love of dance with students of all ages, teaching our STARS & SUPERSTARS preschool dancers, Tap, Musical Theater, and our Hip Hop & Musical Theater Squads. She was also part of the duo who choreographed our National Championship winning Company routine this summer! 🏆✨

This birthday is an extra special one as she gets to celebrate with her sweet 6-month-old daughter, Mabel, by her side! 🥰

We’re so thankful for Mrs. Caroline and all the energy, creativity, and love she brings to BDS and our dancers.

What a great first day back at Burns Dance Studio! ❤️🖤

Our 2026–2027 season is officially underway, and we loved seeing so many smiling faces back in the studio yesterday!

Tonight, we get to do it all over again as we welcome more of our BDS dancers for their first classes of the season. We can’t wait to see you!

It’s so good to have our BDS Family back together. We’re ready for another great year of dance at BDS! ❤️🖤
