⚾ HEY, AIKEN—LET’S PLAY BALL! ⚾

Big-league fun is stepping up to the plate at Citizens Park! The Atlanta Braves Baseball & Softball Clinics are coming to Aiken, giving young athletes the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and have a BLAST on the field with Braves instructors! 🙌

Whether they’re swinging for the fences, working on their glove skills, or just getting started, players of ALL skill levels are welcome!

Fresh After 5 has been canceled for the remainder of the fall season.

We truly appreciate everyone who came out, supported our vendors, grabbed a bite to eat, and spent Tuesday evenings with us. Your support means a lot!

We look forward to bringing Fresh After 5 back this spring and hope to see you at the Aiken County Farmers Market in the meantime.

What a beautiful day to get outside and explore! Thank you to everyone who joined us for Take-A-Hike at Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site on Saturday. We loved spending the morning with you while enjoying the trails, fresh air and beautiful scenery! 🌳☀️

Whether you joined us for the 2-mile hike or took on the 4-mile challenge, we hope you enjoyed exploring this historic South Carolina treasure and connecting with nature along the way.

As the second concert of the fall series gets underway, please be mindful of increased pedestrian traffic near the intersection of Mead Road and Wh***ey Road.

👋 Meet Jarrod!
📍 Role: Parks Supervisor

We asked Jarrod about his job at the City of Aiken Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism!

💚WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SPOT IN ANY OF THE CITY OF AIKEN’S PARKS OR FACILITIES?
My favorite place is anywhere around the ballfields at Citizens Park. I also really enjoy Beverly D. Clyburn Generations Park because there’s something for everyone. I like the diversity—from the wooded trails and natural, rolling landscape to the playground and paved walking paths.

💚WHAT PROGRAM OR FACILITY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS TO TRY?
Try the opportunities at the Odell Weeks Tennis Center. Even if you have never played, the tennis pro, Mark. is great at teaching tennis.

💚WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PRT MOMENT?
Of course, my favorite moment is related to the ballfields. My favorite events at PRT were when Citizens Park hosted the Dixie Boys and Junior Boys World Series and when Citizens Park hosted the Southern Belles World Series Softball Tournament. They were exciting events!

In 1999, Jarrod started working for PRT and has become a cornerstone for the Parks Department. Jarrod has been involved in so many successes for the City of Aiken -- from making all of downtown Aiken and our parks shine for the holiday season to maintaining ballfields that would impress any ballplayer! Jarrod and his family are very dedicated to making the City of Aiken special.
