Northern lights are predicted for Minnesota tonight and tomorrow

Hickory lake is choppy however we got into the brushes/catails where it was calm with a swift flow of water from Pine lake to Hickory lake

Saturday June 1st aprox. 4:30 pm
Millelacs lake:
Luke warm water, a bit choppy, close to the Malmo public access on Hwy. 18
A very easy kayaking experience inspite of the waves and breeze.

Exploring the Ripple river
There were significant area's of water plants that made sections of the trail hard to navigate. Some large rocks to navigate around and one major low spot, we had to get out of our kayak's and walk about 50 ft.
Wear appropriate water shoes for those times when the river is a little low and you need to drag your kayak to deeper waters. There was a large fallen tree that blocked one section of waterway. Thankfully the water was just 'low enough' for us to pass under the trunk of the tree.
We saw two beaver dams along the way.
We passed under Hwy 169 twice in our two hour trip.
Be ready for anything when exploring the ripple river.
