There's been a Slot Journal merch store for a while, but never really promoted it much. There's a link on the website, but since I'm moving most of our updates to the Facebook site, I'm posting the store link here. Check out some of the fun stuff! https://www.zazzle.com/store/slotjournal/products

Hitting the road on a recent visit to the 79th Cleveland Slot Car Show. This is the longest-running car show in the world, and I'll take you inside the exhibit hall to see a huge range of slot cars, parts, accessories, tools and more - in all scales. It's a fun time, and a great place to find some deals! I'll also show you what I brought home, and then dive into the mailbag to answer a query about fitting track buildings into a limited space. Happy slotting!

Just wanted to thank our slot car community and all the YouTube creators out there who have provided inspiration and advice over the past year. It's not a huge milestone...and I don't worry that much about subscribers (or making any $ for that matter)...but it does demonstrate that you think the content is helpful.

If you're having issues with inconsistent power on your plastic track, this might be a great solution, particularly if you have a permanent or semi-permanent installation. Covering the metal rails with copper tape (and trying to avoid too many breaks) will smooth out power delivery - and likely eliminate the need for jumpers. The key is getting tape with conductive adhesive - and having some patience. The results are worth it!

Got another lane copper-taped today; also wanted to tease some work I've been doing on the Auto Racing Museum located at The Schweizering. Ready to install windows; cars of famous Swiss drivers will be inside on display (when I'm not racing them 😆)

Looking forward to the Cleveland Slot Car Show this weekend - I'll only be able to make it up to the actual show on Sunday, but hoping to see some slotheads in the crowd and maybe even some people I know. Wish I had more money to spend, but I'm sure to find a few good deals!

Part of my track runs through an old medieval city. I don't really want to etch or burn a cobblestone pattern onto the track there, but I have lots of walkways and curbs that could use the look. In this episode I use some computer graphics and weatherstripping to get the effect I want. Plus, a new addition to the garage and a highlight of some slot YouTubers you can enjoy with the Auto-translate feature.

Twenty days later, we've hit another mini-milestone over the weekend...and the thanks goes to the slot car community and other hobbyists who have supported the channel. Committed to providing content that offers value to our audience and that you'll find helpful and fun. Got plenty of footage and how-to stuff in the can and on the way. Always happy to get feedback and comments. Let's step on it!

Sometimes, to get exactly what you want you just have to make it yourself. 🙂 Was just test-fitting this building that will go up in this hilltop curve...the top will be an open deck with a railing, the first two levels will be glass all around. Will have to take it apart so I can shoot video as I continue its construction, but I'm happy so far.

While the wife supports the construction of the new track, what she cares most about are the pretty storage cabinets that the track is built upon. 😆 Almost done - got the large door finished and am now waiting on the piano hinge for that, as well as the gas lift shocks that will hold it up when open for storage. Now I can take some time to get back to working on the track and scenery...

I don't pretend to be a master carpenter, but pretty happy with the doors I've installed on one side of the track table. The tabletop edge will get finished off after the scenery is done. Still have the other side to do; not sure about the center section against the back wall - I'm considering doing a wide top-hinged lift door that will be supported at each side with gas lift shocks, like on a hatchback car. That will allow best access for storage in the corners. I may also mount a monitor screen down on that door...I did use that lower placement once before, and it's surprising how it naturally fits into the field of view when you're looking down at the track.
