💡 SAND VB LIGHTING UPDATE 💡

Quick update on our ongoing battle against the copper-thieving vandals:

We added temporary solar lighting this week, but we still need additional lights to make late matches fully playable and safe. Turns out the “go green” strategy comes with a crash course in lumens 😅

To help keep things moving for now:
🏐 Late slot teams will play full matches in Round 1
🏐 Round 2 matches will be ONE set to 30
🏐 Please keep breaks between sets short so we can maximize playable time under the lights

We know this isn’t ideal, and we really appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while we work through the early-season chaos. Our goal is to add more lighting over the next week and get things running smoothly for the rest of the season.

Until then:
There will still be plenty of time after matches to roast your teammate’s passing or finally ask your volleyball crush to grab a beer 🍻

🏐 SAND VB LIGHTING UPDATE 🏐

Thanks everyone for a great kickoff week to Session 1 — despite the cold/rainy weather! As many of you know, our old lighting system had ongoing issues with vandalism/copper theft. We’ve been working with the City of Akron + electricians on a better long-term solution.

💡 New solar-powered LED lights were installed last week. One of the four arrived defective, so Court 3 currently has no light.
💡 The replacement light has been ordered, and we are hoping for installation tomorrow.

🏐 TONIGHT (Court 3 only):
💡 7:40 PM — Team 16 (Lily’s Bandits) vs Team 18 (Diggin’ Your Ballz) should be fine before full sunset
💡 8:30 PM — Team 15 (Pritchard) vs Team 12 (Mortal Kombat) will be “play it by ear” depending on visibility
💡 If needed, we will reschedule/make up any impacted games later this season

If you don’t hear another update from us about lights, assume everything is good to go moving forward 👍

Champ photo of our Sunday B1 winners — Team Big Ol’ Hitties 🏆

While the Cleveland Cavaliers were battling the Toronto Raptors, we had some championship action of our own at Pinnacle Sports on Sunday night (5/3)!

In the B1 Division, Team Big Ol’ Hitties brought the heat and secured a 3-set victory over runner-up That’s What She Set to claim the title.

Over in B2, Old School, Young Guns lived up to their name, taking down Set ‘Em Up to earn the championship and cap off a strong playoff run.

Huge thanks to everyone who competed this session — great energy all around to close out our winter/spring indoor leagues.

Sand volleyball kicks off tonight, and we’re looking forward to an awesome outdoor season. Stay tuned for potential additional summer and fall indoor offerings to complement our popular sand leagues!

⚡ Due to an electrical issue at the courts, there will be NO lights for Week 1

🏐 To adjust, doubleheaders are removed Monday–Friday for the first week

🏐 Sunday games are unchanged (daytime = no lighting needed)

We’re working hard with the City and electricians to get everything fully restored ASAP and appreciate everyone’s patience.

We’re excited to kick things off on Monday and can’t wait to see everyone out there on the sand! 🏐

🏐 Sunday Rec League Playoff Recap 🏆

A great night of competition to wrap up the season!

(1) Troy’s Team battled their way to the top, taking home the championship with a 2-1 win 💪
(2) Gummy Sharks put up a strong fight all night and earned a well-deserved runner-up finish 👏

Thanks to everyone who played in our rec league this session! B-League playoffs next Sunday, then we’re straight into outdoor sand leagues! 🙌
