Harbor Bay Club

Harbor Bay Club is Alameda's premiere health club.

We're the only health and fitness facility in Alameda and the East Bay! Beautifully landscaped on 10 waterfront acres with views of San Francisco and the shoreline beaches of Alameda, the Harbor Bay Club truly feels like a resort: a place where you want to come to revitalize yourself, not a place that you have to go to for a workout. Whether you’re looking for a good game of tennis, fun company and a glass of wine, a rigorous workout and a hearty meal, or a spa treatment and a salad while your children are safely cared for, the Harbor Bay Club is the only place in the East Bay where you can do it all! Here you can exercise, socialize, meditate, relax, indulge, and dine - all without needing your car keys or worrying about your kids.

Meet Our Pilates Reformer Instructors:

Ann H.
Ann has always valued a healthy, active lifestyle and explored a number of fitness activities such as swimming, running and weight training. However, raising two young boys, a rigorous fitness regimen and physical imbalances eventually lead to several significant injuries. Looking for a new experience, Ann was introduced to Pilates. While Pilates was initially a change of pace, she was able to continue to build strength and began to heal from her injuries. After years of pursuing various avenues to achieve optimum fitness, Ann felt more balanced than ever before. Inspired, Ann pursued teacher training and is now a Polestar Pilates Practitioner. Ann enjoys teaching Pilates Mat, Small Group Reformer classes, and private sessions upon request. Whether instructing a group or individual, Ann tailors her program to the level and needs of her clients. Ann focuses on quality of movement and adjusts the pace of a session or class accordingly so that clients achieve the greatest possible benefit.

Anne O.
For Anne, exercise has always been a part of the daily routine – not something to dread, but something to look forward to. Anne believes exercise should be a fun, positive experience. As a teacher, she combines the classical work with contemporary exercises, never teaching the same class twice. Her goal is to provide a gratifying, adaptably challenging and effective workout, in which students look forward to continuing their practice because they find joy in not only the movements but also in the changing strength, flexibility and beauty of their bodies. Anne is a PMA-Certified Pilates Instructor, TRX Functional Qualified Trainer and has recently completed advanced training to earn her Scolio-Pilates Practitioner Certification. Anne holds a BA in Social Ecology from UC Irvine and lives in Alameda with her husband and two children. She’s thankful to her mom for showing her by example the profound impact that a daily routine of ‘getting my exercise’ can bring.

Sara first fell in love with Pilates while she was working in her previous career as a Marine Mammal Trainer. Finding that adding dynamic movement along with strength training and optimal alignment really improved her ability to perform more difficult and athletic behaviors with the animals she loved. Because of this, Sara really enjoys working with athletes, whether they have been doing their sport for years or they just started yesterday! Sara loves to get creative and will often times encourage her students to try new exercises and new props within the exercise because, she believes, we don’t always know how well we can move until someone encourages us. She just recently graduated from the Polestar Pilates program, and will be taking the PMA exam early February 2019. Sara holds a BFA in Theater Design and Production and lives in Alameda with her husband, two children, two kitties and her beloved dog, Edgar.
