The celebration of life for Master Pete Kozak has been moved to a different location. It is still on Saturday, May 24th at 3pm, but the location is now at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis, 2945 NW Circle Blvd, Corvallis, OR 97330. It looks like the parking lot is accessible from NW Firwood Drive.

It is with great sadness that I need to report the loss of our very own Master Pete Kozak.

For over 25 years Pete had been a huge part of the Shin's Martial Arts/Integrity Martial Arts family. Truly a great friend, musician and martial artist. Pete, we're going to miss you in many big ways.

Pete and I tested together for our 3rd, 4th and 5th dans with Grandmaster Shin. So many are going to miss the stories he had from his life that make so many jealous of this experiences Hitch-hiking across the US at 17 years of age, spilling a beer on Brad Pitt.... so many fun, fun stories.

Master Pete Kozak was raised in Nebraska and moved to Oregon in 1984. He began studying Tae Kwon Do at Shin's Martial Arts Institute in 1988 and received his 5th Dan black belt in 2019. In addition to his martial arts background, Mr. Kozak holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Nebraska, and Associate of Science degree in Printing Technology and an Associate of Arts degree in Mass Communication (Journalism and Advertising) from Linn Benton Community College, and a Masters of Science in Education from Western Oregon University. He taught special education at West Albany High School. Mr. Kozak had also been a professional musician since 1977 and taught guitar and banjo privately and at Oregon State University.

Congratulations to Landen yesterday at 2024 Washington Governor's Cup. Landen earned 2 gold medals, 1 in poomsae and in sparring as a green belt he fought up to blue belt to also win his 2nd gold. Great job, Landen!
