Alright, Albanyโฆ weโre going to be honest with you all.๐
As many of you know, the Albany Independent Fair is run by just 18 volunteer members who make up our Board of Directors.
We encourage you to take a minute during the fair this year and really look around.
Everything you see โ before, during, and after fair week โ is made possible by those 18 volunteers, along with their families, friends, our Junior Fair Board, and the countless people who step in to lend a hand.
The buildings being prepared.
The grounds being cleaned.
The events being planned.
The sponsors being contacted.
The decorations, entries, livestock shows, entertainment, rides, cleanupโฆ and everything in between.
It takes a lot of people, a lot of hours, and a whole lot of love for this fair and our community. โค๏ธ
And financially, so much of what you see is only possible because of our incredible sponsors of local businesses who continue to believe in and support the Albany Independent Fair.
Weโre telling you all of this because we need your help to protect the future of our fair.
Over the next couple of years, we will have multiple Board of Director positions opening up, and we need people in our community who are willing to step up and fill them.
The reality is simple:
No directors = no fair.
The Albany Independent Fair has been a part of this community since 1894. Generations of families have walked through these gates, shown livestock, entered projects, watched the parade, sat in the grandstands, made memories, and grown up at this fair.
We want to make sure future generations get that same opportunity.
So, if you love this community, want to give back, have ideas for the future, and arenโt afraid of a little hard work, we hope youโll consider becoming part of the team that keeps this tradition going.
๐๏ธ Purchase a membership ticket and pick up a petition at the beginning of the fair to run for the Albany Independent Fair Board of Directors.
๐ Our meetings are the third Wednesday of every month at 7pm.

You donโt have to know everything. You donโt have to have years of fair experience.
You just need to be willing to show up, work hard, learn, and care about keeping our fair alive.
