For those of you considering enrolling you kid in BJJ classes, I encourage you to do so. When my son (who is now 17) was being bullied in elementary school I immediately took him to my old gym where his level of confidence skyrocketed. Fast forward a 6 or 7 years and my daughter asked me if she could start training again (she did some MMA classes when she was younger with her brother) and asked about kickboxing. I explained to her if she wanted to learn to defend herself then she needed real world techniques.
I introduced her to Professor Jose who I had met some time back while he was with Gracie Barra. She was reserve at first but just like my son her confidence has grown beyond measure. And she will now be apart of the Valley Highschool Wrestling team as well. Something that took me by surprise but am happy to support.
Having a daughter is probably the scariest thing to live thru in todays age, the world is an ugly place. As her dad I want to be there to protect her 24/7 but that’s impossible. It’s our job as adults to protect all children even if they’re not our own, and when we can’t we must provide them with the tools to protect themselves. So if youre thinking about BJJ for your child, provide them with the tools that will help them thru life.
Signed,
A dad

Shining a light on one of our students. We're lucky to have you at The War Room, Brandon 🙌
Brandon: The Underdog — The War Room Brandon is our resident jiu-jitsu underdog at The War Room and we're all rooting for him.
Huge congratulations to Coach Joey Aranda for achieving his Brown Belt. Thank you for everything that you do. Thank you for your friendship and most of all thank you for your unquestionable loyalty to me and to TheWarRoom. No school can exist nor stand without 'Loyalty' and you are definitely an ambassador of that attribute. I'm looking forward to you becoming a Professor at TheWarRoom one day soon and I know you'll be a good one. Keep up the good work brother 🙏

On Wednesday, after several months of helping my little Aubree overcome something that happened to her at another BJJ school, she decided that this was the day that she would actually start training with other kids again. Before this, she would only train with me, Professor Dan, or one of the coaches because that's what she felt comfortable with, and we always took the time to accommodate her because that's the kind of school we are; we're a family here! Her mom snapped this pic unbeknownst to me while I was having a discussion with Aubree about digging deep to overcome her fears, finding her confidence, and talking to her about the importance of never allowing bad people or bad situations to steal her joy. On this day, little Aubree found her confidence and overcame her fears!
When I look back over the last couple of years of starting this school and all of the stuff I've had to go through to get TheWarRoom where it's at today, it is this kind of thing that makes it worth it to me. It is this kind of thing that keeps me pushing forward in spite of those who have done their best to take TheWarRoom down. We're going to continue to change lives through Jiu Jitsu and we ain't going anywhere but up🤙👊
Huge shout out to little Xaylin for being such a good training partner to Aubree that day.
This is not a seminar that you want to miss! Very few spots left, so reserve your spot now. March 25th from 12-2pm. 75 bucks for WarRoom students, 90 bucks for non-WarRoom students. To reserve your spot, message me here, or call/text me at 505-933-1932

So time for the tournament post👍 Saturday was actually a really great day for TheWarRoom. We went into this tournament with a very small team, total of 10, 7 kids and 3 adults. Even with that small amount, our 3 adults won enough Gold to earn TheWarRoom 2nd place overall out of 22 schools, gaining us the Silver team trophy. Our 7 kids still placed TheWarRoom in 5th place.
One of the biggest victories of the day though, came from our little Ezra. He was having a tough day, and losing a lot. From the very start I could tell by the look on his little face that he was not really into competing. At that point I said to myself you know what, I'm going to speak some life into this kid. So I started coaching him myself and explaining to him that losing is part of the journey, and that really, it's hard to appreciate being a winner if you haven't experienced losing first. I kept reminding him of how no matter the outcome that I, as well as the rest of the team, were proud of him. I also put a strong emphasis on the importance of having fun. As I kept talking with little Ezra, he started doing better in his matches, and he started smiling from ear to ear. He lost one final match but was smiling, and I patted him on the back and said Good job, did you have fun? He said YEAH. I said okay, let's get back in there and have some more fun Ezra! He said okay, went back in, and he started winning.
That is what Jiu Jitsu is all about! It's not about being the best competitor, it's about being the best you! It's about learning how to smile and have fun in the midst of loss and adversity. It's about learning how to overcome difficult situations with a smile on your face and not letting difficulties break your spirit or your heart.
We had other HUGE victories on Saturday, but little Ezra's victory was the biggest because what he learned to overcome was himself🤙 He learned how to become a winner by having fun, no matter what the outcome. In the end, he was just as happy with a loss as he was with a win. One day I will be very old, and Ezra will be my current age, and God willing, him and I will remember what happened on Saturday January 14th.

Some randoms of this past Grappling Industries, feel free to tag and share.
