'You can't be disturbed by anything. There's no emotion involved. You can't feel sorrow, you can't feel pity, there's nothing you feel. The job has to be done.'

Children with obesity experience musculoskeletal pain and reduced physical function and well-being, which collectively impact their fitness, strength, motor skills, and even their ability to undertake simple tasks, like walking and climbing stairs.
Disrupting obesity-related disability may be critical to increasing children's physical activity. Thus, barriers to movement should be considered by health practitioners to improve the efficacy of prescribed physical activity.
This applied clinical review in Current Sports Medicine Reports highlights key subjective and objective findings from a hypothetical case scenario, linking those findings to the research evidence, before exploring strategies to enhance movement and increase physical activity.

'When I was a kid and I knocked a guy out, I would jump up and be excited. My mentor Cus D'Amato would say, Why are you excited? You anticipated this. Anything different would be a failure.'

Please welcome the U.S. Olympic Women's Gymnastics Team.
P O W E R F U L! Jordan Chiles was ready to quit gymnastics. She had been passed over for big assignments year after year due to lack of consistency. The environment was toxic, and many in the gymnastics community had written her off. But Simone said, I see you Queen. In 2019, Simone invited Jordan to relocate from Washington to Texas to join the gym that she OWNS- a safe space with a positive environment. When Jordan arrived, the first thing they worked on was not building her skills but instead building her confidence. Two years later, Simone and Jordan are headed to the Olympics together. This is what we mean by lift as you climb. Trophies are nice but the biggest flex is winning together and creating an environment where others thrive too.
Do you know someone 14- 21 years old who is interested in improving confidence, communication skills and make some $$ too?

On this day...
'I was a miner and I was a cowboy but mostly I was a hobo. I fought wherever I could, in school halls, outside saloons, anyplace they were putting up a purse. I once walked thirty miles across the desert to a town called Goldfield in Nevada so I could fight for twenty dollars.
I got beat a lot. I improved. But I remember the beatings I took. Once I got beat so bad they had to take me out of the ring in a wheelbarrow. Later some said I was a killer in the ring. They got that wrong. I killed nobody. But I took out other guys quick. That much is true. I got more one round knockouts than anybody, sixty knockouts in the first round.
I beat a good Heavyweight in New Orleans once in fourteen seconds. I knocked out Fred Fulton, six-foot-four, 250 pounds, in nineteen seconds. How come? Not because I was a killer. Other way round. I was always afraid that I'd be the one who was killed. Get 'em quick and you live to fight another day.' - Jack Dempsey
On this day in 1895, heavyweight world champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, William Harrison 'Jack' Dempsey was born.
Armed with a combination of viciousness, frightening speed and bone-shattering punching power, Dempsey was able to rise up from his impoverished beginnings to claim the ultimate prize in sports - the Heavyweight crown.
Dempsey is without a doubt one of the most iconic figures the sport has ever known and the stories of his ring exploits still captivate fans to this day.
Happy Heavenly Birthday Champ. Rest in Peace.

Parents, what are your experiences with your children in martial arts?
On Memorial Day, let us all ponder the price that has been paid for our liberty, and to do so with gratitude and remembrance. 🇺🇸
"They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
-"For the Fallen" by Laurence Binyon
