Bringing people and bicycles together in more ways than one. Two wheel drive is an Albuquerque institution. Founded over 30 years ago to bring a friendly shopping alternative to the typical "pro-shop" eliteness of the bicycle shop of the day.
TWD continues to bring a unique personal service perspective to a industry that's moved more and more toward a corporate scheme. At TWD you will find an unparelled perspective that encourages a lifetime of cycling. Wether you are riding to class, work or to increase the benefits of fitness at any age, you will find TWD offers unique enabling gear. For example, we offer a complete selection of performance three wheelers for folks who feel the need to keep riding, but have physical issues that have stopped them from riding the typical bent over, balance requiring two wheeler. You will find folding bikes, tandems, three speeds and stable touring bikes for the special requirements of your commute or bikepack adventure. Of course, you'll find a great understanding and selection of MountainBikes, our first love. However you ride- TWD will help you find a better way. If you're riding for life, you'll love Two Wheel Drive!
Operating as usual
As much as we would love to hold a big PUBLIC group ride for this year's #swiftcampout, due to COVID-19, we cannot. We will be heading out as a shop and our respective households on Saturday afternoon to a secret spot to camp, hang, and ride our bikes. We hope you can join us Sept. 26-27th, and hundreds of other cyclists & campers, by following & signing up @swiftindustries for your very own ride and campout! #swiftcampout #outsifeisfree

Created by TWD's first hired hand, John Evo about 1983 or so- Inspired by a comment from a supplier representative accusing us of being a Mom & Pop shop-
Heck yeah, we're a Mom & Pop shop.

Repair Service: First Come First Serve
Sales: 2 customers in the shop at a time
Thanks for being patient as we figure out how to ramp back to normal!
We honor the women & men that have served our country. Thank you.
We ain't dead yet! We are reopening with some slightly modified hours, & with slightly modified operations! Tues.-Sat we will be open for pick ups and drop offs 11am-4pm. To minimize exposure on our end, and our customers, we are currently not allowing anyone but employees inside the shop. To also keep us both safe, we ask that all our customers we do see to wear a mask. We all know how essential bicycles are in our lives, so let's treat this that way, PLEASE, we are all in this together and we need to be as safe as possible. To schedule a drop off or pick up, call us at 505-243-8443 11am-4pm, and we'll talk you through the process. We will also be offering basic curbside service, like flat fixes and quick adjustments, as well as selling tubes, lube, tires etc curbside. Thank you for your patience and understanding with us. We are excited to be back doing what we love. See you soon, stay safe!
We’re back in operation using Governors orders, and everyone's safety as guidelines.
Tuesday - Saturday 11am-4pm
We’re trying to operate as close to our 37+ year old methods as possible-
We are not able to provide our usual in-person, high-touch bike/trike sales currently, but will offer our guidance through phone calls, or email. We have an extensive stock of bikes & trikes, and can also offer any machine available through of Brand Partners.
We will take service work & phone calls during our operating hours on a first come, first serve basis.
We ask that you call the shop beforehand if possible to help us spread out drop-off and pick up times, to minimize social contact.
Since sanitation is of great importance, before bringing your machine, we ask that you clean your bike / trike.
If you can't clean, no worries, but a clean machine always works better, and may reduce risks.
We suggest using a diluted mix of dishwashing soap and water at a very low pressure. Scrub the machine with light pressure, and rinse with low pressure. Avoid Seats & Shifters.
A spray bottle with the soap solution works very well.
Shake the machine to shed water, and towel dry. .
Once outside the shop, call for instruction.
If you have more questions, e-mail:
We expect things will change within a couple of weeks, stay tuned.
Thanks, glad you’re safe, and we’ll see you soon!
Charlie, Zach & Crew
to the volunteer crew!
Thanks guys for helping TWD move through the muddle, fixing some bikes for Essential Workers, and breathing some of that stale shop air.
Remember- if you are an Essential Worker, and your ride takes a break, e-mail us, and we'll see what we can do.
Day by Day.
We're working on a strategy to get the store back into operation, but with great constraints.
I've had some big challenges to navigate in my nearly 38 years operating, but never this.
Manager Zach is still volunteering to take care of repairs for bonafide Essential workers.
E-mail him at [email protected]
Every morning I get up and think. And administrate the tasks at hand.
Today, with the help of several close brainstormers, I've started a re-opening plan.
But for this people centered business, it's really still day by day.
Hope you all are Safe & Healthy.
We may be able to help folks that really do rely on their bikes for transportation to ESSENTIAL JOBS- Healthcare Hero's, Grocery Store Hero's...
Store Manager Zach is volunteering to do what he can.
There are limited repairs we can perform however. Many parts suppliers have shut down, and we are having difficulty receiving shipments from those still open.
This is strictly bike drop off, by appointment.
E-MAIL CONTACT ONLY.
E-Mail Zach at:
THANKS TO ALL OF OUR HERO'S, and THANK YOU ZACH!!
Its time for Two Wheel Drive-
"For the safety of our employees and customers, we will be suspending all operations till recommendations from Health Care Professionals & our Governor believe conditions allow. You know we love helping folks ride, and look forward to helping you when conditions allow.
