STRUGGLE SEEING SOFTBALL TO CONTACT?

Does your daughter struggle with tracking the ball from the pitchers hip to contact?
99% of all athletes I’ve worked with we have to go through this concept of phases and being an “intentional” hitter. Hitters need to be in motion when the ball is in motion, sometimes even during the pitcher is in motion… this depends on how quickly the ball is being pitched or capable hand speed.

Softball pitching - “get tall early”

DRILL FOR TRACKING SOFTBALL OFF TEE

🛑STOP STARRING AT THE BALL ON THE TEE! Your head needs to move the opposite way from our hips and shoulders. This takes a lot of practice to break hitter patterns of wanting to control the body with the head. TIPS FOR DRILL
✳️Visualize the pitcher is in front of you.
✳️Move your head to mimic tracking of ball from pitchers hip to contact.
✳️Hit the ball off the tee and keep your head at contact point - this will allow for you to feel any unbalances in your swing and to make an adjustment.

Find the spin of the ball off the pitchers hip! Your body is relying on your eyes to tell it how to move and what to attack. So If your looking at the pitcher too long it can’t react to the ball. Does this happen to you? Part 2 tomorrow - Drill to help train for this

LOSING AT THE PLATE?

IS IT YOUR MECHANICS OR APPROACH? Losing mechanical functions could be a result of bad approach and intention of the at bat. Game video with opponents pitcher can really help figure where you are losing the battle at the plate.
As a private coach there is more to my relationships than mechanics. I strive to help give tools to the player to look outside of mechanics to find errors in focus, sequences, rhythm and so much more!
