Johanna began her dance journey when she joined her elementary school cheer team, clogging and then show choir throughout middle school. In 2011, Johanna joined her high school dance team in Broken Bow, Ok., for 4 years, for her Junior and Senior year she was appointed Officer.
Johanna then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Ok., in 2015, where she joined the Sparks Dance Team and the SE Dance Company where she was Captain for 2 years. She graduated with a Minor degree in Dance where she studied Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary & Tap. She was awarded the Outstanding Choreographer Award her senior year for her choreography projects.
After College, Johanna went to Bonham, TX to work with Bonham High School as an Assistant Drill team director with an old college friend. She attended practices, competitions, and school performances. While teaching there, she taught opening numbers for Beauty Pageants and drag shows and continued teaching at her university and old high school.
After taking some time away, Johanna returned to the World of Dance when she was introduced to Miss Brittney at Dancing Stars in January of 2024 to come in as a coach. As nervous as she was, Johanna developed a passion for working with the students and guiding them through their dance journey. In late April, Johanna began to work with Dancing Stars Weddings where she gets to teach engaged couples their first dance and fell in love with it! She loves seeing the joy and accomplishments the couples feel when they learn their dances and seeing everything come together.
Johanna’s favorite style is Hip-hop but she also loves Jazz and contemporary. She loves how you can tell a story through movements and that no matter how shy you are off stage, you can always shine bright on stage.
