The sweatshirt my granddaughter Xaraiah is wearing used to belong to her uncle Lalo Chavez when he first started the dojo so it's 24 years old and in good shape still
Interesting your promotion, is it to understand that the promote is now the head of kajukenbo over the successor of Kajukenbo or is it that your recognizing him for his own version or methodlogy? Not insulting or judging just trying to understand.

Congratulation on 45 years. I can remember someone saying on my first day of class at UofA . " Some of you people are here because you may not have anything going on tonight, Some of you people have come to learn Karate and will follow me but that will be very few if any, and some ,we will become good friends". Like Bob Hope once said " Thanks for the Memories" CONGRATULATIONS MY FRIEND. Johnny Romero (JJ)

Today Great Grandmaster celebrates 48 years of Chavez Dojo! Such an amazing rare accomplishment! This year really has been a challenge to keep the business afloat. We are thankful GGM adapted and did whatever he had to to keep our dojo community alive!

We’d love for former and active students/parents to REPLY to this post and tell us how you or your child are doing. Or feel free to share a funny story or memory from your time together!

Please also feel free to call GGM (505-877-6261) to wish him a happy anniversary and let him know the difference he’s made in your life! ❤️❤️❤️

[12/11/20]   Hello, is anyone else that didn’t come to ju jitsu last week interested in coming tomorrow? We are trying to figure if we need an additional class to the ones already scheduled.

Thank You

[12/01/20]   We are excited to safely open ju jitsu class this Saturday. It will be a mix of ju jitsu and conditioning. The state still mandates no person to person contact so each student will work in individual areas! Because the class is strictly limited to 10 students we will need a list of who all is wanting to participate and then we can separate all into according class times. Please call the dojo at 877-6261 or I prefer text at 505-980-2371 for more info. We will also be offering the class via zoom so if you are interested in that please call or text as well. Thank you all for your patience and support!

If you need contract assistance or any business to be taken care of in the office please call to arrange a time with Grandmaster Peggy ahead of time. There will not be anyone in the office to assist you otherwise.

We recognize that these precautions may seam stringent however, the health and safety of our students is our number one priority. We encourage any student who may be at high risk or any student who is feeling ill maintain zoom classes.

Thank you all for your dedication and support over the last five months. We are grateful for our Ohana and looking forward to resuming classes slowly and safely.

Zoom classes remain available for any students unable to attend in person and a screen/camera has been installed so all students get the same instruction. If we all maintain these Covid safe practices both in and out of the dojo, we can slowly move back to traditional classes. Gov. announces limited reopening for dine-in restaurants, indoor malls, gyms, salons and more | Office of the Governor - Michelle Lujan Grisham

Aloha, after further review of the governors executive order and consultation with her staff, traditional classes in the dojo are categorized as group fitness class. Based on these restrictions we are unable to resume normal business hours at this time. We did receive clarification that summer programs are still allowed as long as we stay within the guidelines set forth earlier in the month. The summer camp will start this week. Thank you all for your continued support. We will continue zoom classes.

Aloha, we have been getting a lot of calls inquiring about summer camp. Any jiu jitsu done in camp will be with the students personal practice dummy. Itll be a lot of personal strength, balance and agility training. And karate, weapons, anything they can do on their own in their own space. Since it's limited to a much smaller class they will have a much bigger surface area to themself. As of now there will be no physical contact between students. There is also the option for students to do summer camp via zoom if there is still concern to be in a public setting. As the student is comfortable they can join us in in person classes or do the full 8 week program thru zoom. Also, payment plans are available. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
