WARM WATER WALKERS!
We open May 3...come join us!
"Three good friends went for a swim.
The one who was fat wished she was thin.
The one who was curvy wished she was clever.
The one who was clever wished she swam better.
The really great swimmer wished she was witty.
The one who was witty wished she was pretty.
All three friends thought the other two were just fine.
If only they could let their own bright light shine.
So throw on your swimsuit if you're fat or you're thin.
Enjoy fun and friendship .... love the skin that you're in! "

Historical Snapshots
“My early physical misfortune has turned out to be the greatest blessing that could have come to me. Without it I should have missed all the grim struggle upward and the reward that waited at the end of it all.”
Annette Kellermann was just six years old when she developed weakness in her legs. This required her to wear painful steel braces and to help recovery, her parents enrolled Annette in swim classes.
As a teen her legs recovered and she became a champion swimmer, a record holder in the 100 yard and mile races in her native Australia.
But more than just swimming, she became famous for advocating for women’s rights.
“I can’t swim wearing more stuff than you hang on a clothesline,” she once said.
In a time when women were expected to wear dress and pantaloons to swim, she wore a one piece suit. And while doing so led to her arrest in 1907 in Massachusetts for indecency, with time she helped change the social norms.
Her one piece suit, known as the Annette Kellermann, became a popular swimsuit for women.

Stop Drowning Now
Backyard pools are more popular than ever. But too often, the safety risks associated with pools are forgotten.
With families working and schooling from home, drownings are on the rise. It’s not possible to watch a child 100% of the time 24 hours a day, that’s why layers of protection are key.
This picture is a perfect example. A small backyard pool with a secured cover and no stairs, is still a risk.
A utilities worker moved a picnic table, right next to the pool. This 2 year old very quickly figured out she could use it as a step to gain access to the pool. Because of a door alarm, the parents knew the toddler was outside and were able to intervene.
Some parents aren’t that lucky, and it’s too late.
Educate yourself in order to eliminate drowning. Layers of protection are key. #stopdrowningnow
